Chia Pets! A Message from Gev. Porat

Hi Fifth Graders!
Take home your Chia pieces today! They are in Gev. Kimmel’s room on the window sill.  I left some aluminum take out trays and covers for you. (Some will not quite fit with a cover. If yours does not fit in the bottom tray, maybe ask in the kitchen for something like a strong paper plate.)
I left a spray bottle on the window for you to mist yours before you leave (or during they day if they look droopy.)
At home, set in a shallow dish near a window indoors to get indirect light. Pour water into the hole you made so the clay can stay moist. Mist once in a while. If it looks like it’s getting too dried out, put in a deeper clear plastic container and cover with plastic to make it like a terrarium. It will revive. If not, ask me for more seeds to restart. (You can also buy them at the store. I got mine at Outpost in their bulk seeds and nuts aisle.)
Enjoy them! They are all fantastic!
Have a nice Memorial Day weekend!
Gev. Porat
P.S. No homework for Tuesday.

Biography Update

We have officially chosen our subjects and selected text structures for our biographies. I don’t want to share too much here– I’ll leave that up to your kiddos! Please ask your child to share which biography structure he/she has chosen as he/she continues to collect research on his/her subject.

A to Z countdown

The warm weather is here! And so are the last 26 days of our school year. Can you believe it? I can’t! It has become an annual tradition to countdown the last 26 days of the year by matching each day to one of our 26 letters. Fifth and Sixth graders, and all students,  are invited to participate in any or all of the days. Please remember that school dress code still applies on all days! Stay tuned for more end of the year announcements!
