Pete Bowers- get a proposal about what he will be offering and cost- what does it look like at 2 hours? what about 3 hours?  how much are more zoom calls later in the year?

Learning Partner Conversation:

what are the current gaps in preparing 4th grade for upper school- not just in ELA – but in all of ELA – sit down with entire 5th grade team, Jill and Lani to fill holes now rather than later – what can we start in quarter 3 & 4

What can we put in place for end of the year of 4th grade? March/April.

Have to front load how to use all of the materials.

structure of class? Maybe use Wednesday self directed time for ELA – 30 minutes to do conferring/small groups.

Possibly look at schedule and see if we can adjust time.

Thank you!! I think the addition of the class will help.

Possibly assign more writing homework to get us farther along!

I feel like the kids aren’t ready to self assses in ELA yet. — they are– but we just aren’t there yet! They have so much to figure out in terms of how to set up their binders, how to respond appropriately, how to use pencil and paper! I almost feel like the I can statements should be about how they are using their materials.

Still struggling with 40 minute class period. It just isn’t enough time. Right now I’m doing a a very brief/basically no warm up. I would love to be able to use the first 5-10 minutes to have the kids practice a review topic/do word work. I usually end up with 10-12 minutes of independent work time at the end–which just isn’t enough if I want to be able to confer or ever have small groups. Thoughts?

I love this group of kiddos in ELA. They are excited to learn and soak up the mini lessons. I’m excited to get writing moving along so that they can share their work!

Rubric is working really well in ETC with the I can statements- I think because it is a direct connection- and seems authentically tied to the challenges.
