Egyptian G-D’s

  • What is the largest difference between Ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and our beliefs as Jews?
  • We believe that there is one G-d while they believe that there is multiple G-d’s and also we believe and think of the afterlife in a different way than them.
  • Which G-D did you find most fascinating?
  • I found the one for the sky most fascinating. I wonder why there is a G-d for the sky?Maybe it also has to do with the afterlife?!
  • What is one thing you are wondering about Ancient Egyptian religion?
  • I wonder about how the Egyptians discovered the G-d’s or maybe they made them up based on something?I wonder how that works?!

One Word Goal Update

My One Word Goal:Attempt

One thing I can do this week to help me stick to my goal:One thing that I can do this week to help me stick with my goal is when we go to the art museum I know I don’t love it but maybe I could try to be a better listener and just go with the flow. Also maybe instead of thinking “I know everything about this exhibit or art piece”maybe I can listen better to the docent and try to learn something new about the exhibit or are piece.

One thing my teachers can do this week to help me stick to my goal:One thing my teachers can do this week to help me stick to my goal is they can maybe remind me in the art museum if I’m not being an attentive listener maybe they could remind me of what I said above and that will give me inspiration to be a better listener and to try to learn something new.

One thing my friends can do this week to help me stick to my goal:One thing my friends can do this week to help me stick to my goal is they can just say ATTEMPT to me and I’ll know what that means although it’s just nice to have someone else say it to you instead of you trying to say it to yourself because a lot of the time at least for me it doesn’t help when I tell it myself so it’s better to hear it from someone else.

One thing my family at home can do this week to help me stick to my goal:One thing my family at home can do this week to help me stick to my goal is by they can maybe if they see me on my homework and I’m struggling, maybe they can help me but not hep me to much because if I try to do a problem on my own and I don’t know what I’m doing they helped me to much so I need to try to attempt something on my own with a little help from them.

MPM Reflection

    • Which of the 10 exhibits we visited was your favorite? Why?
    • My favorite exhibit that we visited was “Old Milwaukee” because I love history and I love learning about different people in the world and who came to Milwaukee for their different and interesting reasons.
    • What is one new thing you learned at the museum yesterday?
    • One new thing I learned at the Museum yesterday is that people who live in Japan are almost like ‘Munks” in a way. What I mean by this is that a lot of people who live in Japan are very simple and they ONLY have what they need, not what they want. They also spend a lot of their time being mindful and doing yoga and meditating.(Also not ALL people who live in Japan do this, only some people do)I wonder if the people who do this,do this all day in Japan?!I also wonder what their daily routine would be like?!
    • Which exhibit do you think you’ll highlight in your poem? Why?
    • I think I will highlight “Old Milwaukee” or the “Butterfly Room” because for Old Milwaukee I love history and people’s stories behind why they came to Milwaukee and I would also do the Butterfly room because butterflies in my opinion are just so pretty and GRACEFUL and they all come in such cool sizes, shapes, and colors!

Q&A:

Why do you think learning coding is important to your future?

I think coding is important to my future because if I ever get a job in coding or I have a job related to coding,I will know how to use it.I think it’s also important because maybe if I were to be an engineer or something in that category one day I would need to use it to maybe code something to make something make sense.Another reason why coding could be important is because maybe if someone is def you could use coding as a way of communication.

Using the Google operators that you are familiar with, please research and find an article that answers the question from Task 2. Copy and paste the link into your post.

Link: https://www.tynker.com/content/why-coding

Wonders About Article:

1.I wonder if all around the world people have the right technology to code?

2.I wonder who started coding and how it got started?

3.I wonder what year coding was invented in?

Where was a connection you made between the article and your initial thoughts from Task 2? If so, what?

My ideas were not really connected to the article, but I think that both of our ideas were really good and in a way creative and our answers were both very detailed and specific.

What more would you like to learn about coding? Or, what more would you like to do with coding? Are you interested in creating anything specific? (i.e. a video game, an app, a computer game)

I want to learn how to use bloxels and how to make a video game out of that and I also want to learn more about how to maybe even make and app in coding related on how to do coding!

Chicken Mummification Day 33

Date:1-16-18

Process Day: 33

Reflection on the Mummification/Process of Mummification and Pictures:

Picture Taker: S

Procedure Police/Reflector: D

Materials Manager/Clean Captain: J

Chat Captain/Timekeeper: L

Procedure:

First we covered the table in newspaper so that the table did not get dirty or damaged.  Then we took the chicken and took the powder in the inside and outside of the chicken off and out. Then we rubbed the chicken with our gloves so the old mixture would go off.Them we took our baking soda and we used 5 cups of baking soda and 2 cups of salt and we mixed it together to make the mixture.(We used 5 pounds of baking soda and 2 pounds of salt because each cup stands for a pound)Then we took the mixture of salt and baking soda and put it in the inside and outside of the chicken to mummify it some more. Then we just pretty much buried the chicken in the mixture also. Then we took our scents (Ground Cloves and ground nutmeg) and we put it on the chicken and inside the chicken so that it does not smell nearly as bad. Then we took the chicken back to the window sill and then we wait till another week before we do this again for the LAST TIME!(Hopefully)

Photos of us Mummifying:

**Other Pictures Coming Later**

Our Senses with Chickens:

Sight: It looks it almost has a BIG black and blue mark all around the chicken and it also looks like a giant bruise and it got a lot smaller and it looks now like a mini cave or something like that.

Touch: It feels like a dry and hard rock.

Smell:It smells like a squirrel who was dying from the skunk smell.

Index Card Challenge

Initial Experience:

I remember this challenge!I did this in the beginning of the year and it was really hard but fun!I can’t wait to try this again and maybe succeed even more with this!(Let’s Hope). The part that I want to work on most is that I want to keep up the tower for longer than last time because I think my group and I timed it last time and I want to work on the timing and make it stand for longer and maybe even set a WORLD RECORD?!

Group Members/Roles:

Chat Captain:SK

Materials Manager:SE/SM

Time Keeper:BW

Document Job:SE/SM

Ps: SE and SM will be doing teamwork and switching off from Document to Materials manager.

Materials we have t0 use:

  1. 1oo index cards

       2. 1  meter of masking tape

Planning:

Our plan is to take a piece of paper and turn it into a circle by shaping it with our hands and then we will tape it with some masking tape to hold it into place. Then we will put a rectangle piece of paper over the circle piece of paper. Then we will do this process over again until we have used as much paper as we think is good and until the timer has gone off. While we were doing this we also were deciding on the group roles and deciding who is who in the group and I think our group roles are really good and really fir each other perfectly.

Here is a picture of our planning ideas:

We had 9 minutes to complete this task of making a free standing structure that can hold things out of 1 meter of masking tape and 100 index cards!

Here are some picture we got while doing this:

   **Other Pictures Coming Soon**

Midway Reflection:

What’s going well is that our tower looks really sturdy and well put together. What’s not going so well is that some of the people in our group are not doing their group roles and a classmate of mine and me were the ones doing all the group roles and we tried to tell our group mates to do their group roles but they wouldn’t do it.I think our group can improve on the design by maybe taking off some layers of paper because if we don’t have to use all 100 pieces of paper than we can take off some layers and maybe our tower would be more even.Or maybe we could tape our tower in places so it can stay more even or maybe we can stand straight instead of tilting while taping the tower so that the tower might be straight then.

Here is a picture of where our project is at right now:

Second Attempt Picture:

**Coming Soon**

Second Attempt Reflection:

The tower is 21 inches right now.We changed the design by making it more straight by standing straight and fixing up the angle that the tower was at and it worked. So yes our reflection thoughts did work and they did help us.What I would do differently next time is if I had the same group I would maybe change up the group roles and maybe we could all try something new as in group roles because these group roles really were not the best fit for every person in our group.

Bloxels

Reflection:

1.I literally know nothing about Bloxels. I  have never used them before. I have never used the app. I have never seen anyone use them before but I have heard of them.I am most excited to learn all the steps to making a video game with them!

2.So first we are going to make a snail out of Coin.Next we are going to start making a rainbow shell for the snail. We are going to make this out of Exploding Block, coin, terrain, water, enemy, and power-up.Then we are going to make the worms out of story block. Our goal is to make a Rainbow Snail! This is connecting to to science as in prey vs predator.

Here is a picture of what we are thinking our snail should look like:

To be continued on 1.7.18…

Q&A on Graph and Picture of Graph

Q and A on Graph:

Explain the trend of increases and/or decreases for both the rabbit and wolf populations between the years 1930-1950.

The populations of wolves from 1930-1950 was about between 0 and 40.40 was the highest the population ever got between that time period. It really changed around the time of the 1940’s.It went down by about 30 or 35. That’s where it mostly changed!

The populations of rabbits from 1930-1950 was between 0 and 80.80 was the highest the population ever got between that time period. It really changed and went up around 1935.It went up by about 60 around 1950.That’s where it mostly changed!

Look at the years 1987 and 1993. Explain your thinking as to why there is such a large difference in population numbers between those five years.

Maybe it’s because other animals didn’t have food or enough food and they went to go search down Rabbits or Wolves to eat because they were one of the only animals that they could eat and or one of the only animals left?!

Analyze the population changes between 2000-2005.

For the Rabbits in 2000 it went up from about 10 to about 30.Then in 2005 from about 30 it went up to about 85.

For the Wolves at 2000 it went from about 30 to about 50.Then in 2005 it went from about 50 and went down to about 23 or 24.

Chicken Mummification Day 6

Date:1-8-18

Process Day: Day 25

Group Roles (choose a different role than last time)

Materials Manager/Clean Captain:L

Chat Captain/Timekeeper:J

Picture Taker:D

Procedure Police/Reflector: S

Procedure:

Step 1: We Dumped the mixture out and off of the chicken in a tinfoil tray so that we could mummify the chicken some more and make a new mixture.

Step 2: We emptied out the tinfoil tray that the chicken was in and we put the mixture from before in the garbage and washed out the tinfoil tray with water and used 2 wipes to disinfect it.

Step 3: We then Mixed some salt and baking soda and also the scent Sage and ground nutmeg for a better scent and then we put the mixture together. We used about 3 pounds of salt and 3 pounds of baking soda to fill up the inside and outside of the chicken. We used about 1 tablespoon of sage and about 1 tablespoon of ground nutmeg to make the chicken from the inside and out not smell so bad as it would have with no scents.

Step 4: After that we buried the Chicken in the mixture in a CLEAN tinfoil tray so that the chicken could mummify some more.

Step 5:  We Put the chicken back on the windowsill so that it could get smaller and mummify even more than from before and dry out and dehydrate.

Photos of Us Mummifying a chicken:

Group Reflection:

Sight:It looks like its green purple and black and it looks like it has gills on the bottom. It also looks like it has a black and blue mark. You can also now see the spine of the chicken.

Touch:It feels like a DEAD raisin and it also feels like a rock depending on where you touch the chicken.

Smell:Before we put the scents on the chicken to make it smell better it smelled like a dead animal that’s been sitting for a year.
