Passover Rube Goldberg Reflection

Reflection:

My Seder Plate/Table item:Bitter Herbs

My Plague:Boils

Today my group worked on thinking of a plan for our Rube Goldberg. Some of our ideas are that we might use red marbles to represent boils and to start the Rube Goldberg we might somehow pop a balloon and inside the balloon will be a big ball or a lot of mini marbles that will go down a path or something like that and it will help to continue on the whole Rube Goldberg. We don’t have a specific whole plan yet but we have some mini ideas which will hopefully lead us into a main idea.

The part of this assignment that I think will be most challenging is starting the Rube Goldberg because you need to find something VERY forceful to push one thing to go to another thing and its challenging to find something heavy enough but not to heavy that it can’t move at all. Also you are never fully sure if the Rube Goldberg will work and you can only use your hand at the beginning to start the Rube Goldberg. Also its hard to have to relate this to Passover although we already thought of the red marbles which represent boils so I guess it actually isn’t that hard as long as you focus and put your mind to it.

I read through the rubric and here are my questions:N/A

The next steps for my group is actually having a plan and design for our Rube Goldberg by combining all our ideas together which can be a challenge but its also going to be totally worth it in the end!

Materials I need to start gathering:So far what I know of that our group needs is red marbles that are pretty small. That’s all I know of for now but I’m sure there is more stuff we need. Here are the links to my partners blogs so you can look on their blogs to see what else we need and their thought’s and opinions on this and their thinking process.

Boat Challenge Day 4 Reflection

Here is My Reflection:

Today me and my partner were able to put the boat in a bucket of water and test it out to see if it would float. I predicted that it would be able to float but only for a short amount of time since it runs by a balloon and the balloon would inflate in about 5 seconds. When we tested it the boat did float for about 2 seconds which was actually pretty good and we were really proud of ourselves and what we did. I think to make the boat better next time maybe we should tie the balloon instead of just putting the rubber band around it so that it’s able to float for longer although that might not work because then bubbles wouldn’t be able to come out of the balloon and that’s how the boat moved from before but maybe there is another way to have the boat float with the balloon tied. If you know a way please leave it down in the comments.

Conflict in Fiction Tutorial

Here is a Video That Me and My Group Did on Different Types of Conflicts(ENJOY):

Reflection about Conflicts:

Think about a book you’re reading now or one you’ve read recently. What type of conflict occurred in the story? Describe it using specific details from the text: I read ” I Survived the Nazi Invasion ,1944 from the I Survived Series”.The main conflict was that there was this boy and girl and they were siblings and they escaped a ghetto and then they were trying to defend themselves and they even killed some Nazi’s! But the conflict was that the brother got shot by a gun and the sister also got hurt so they couldn’t go as fast and they needed to go because of all the bombing in the forest so they couldn’t defend themselves.

How did it move the rest of the story along? Well then there were people in the forest who helped them and one of them happend to be their cousin who they were looking for but anyways then both kids got better and they all helped defend against the Nazi’s and found out secrets because of the boy and girl that would help them. Then they also found their dad who they had also been looking for and then they all went to America after the Holocaust and were free and safe but they never found their mom.

Was the conflict resolved? How? If not, how do you think it will be resolved? Yes and I just explained that above.

Boat Challenge Day 2 Reflection

My Reflection on Today:

Today me and my partner actually changed what type of boat we were making due to some misunderstandings. Luckily we already had all the materials for the new boat that we did! I actually am glad that this happend because this was way more fun and it made you think more than the other boat did. Also I feel that me and my partner did really good teamwork and worked really well together and compromised and gave each other a “hard time” in a good way by making each other think a little more about everything in the project. The most challenging part about today was getting the balloon to stay blown-up because we had to put the balloon in a straw and also wrap it up with a rubber band. It was also hard to blow into it. The easiest part was probably cutting out the whole in the milk carton and also cutting out the square in the milk carton it was kind of hard but kind of easy. Then once we put our boat together we got to test it out in a water  bucket but it didn’t work because of the balloon not being blown-up so the boat didn’t float. Tomorrow me and my partner’s plan is to find a way for the balloon to be fully blown-up and also be able to float in the bucket of water without sinking. I think we will be able to do this if we use the same techniques as we did today for tomorrow and also come up with new techniques to help us even more.

**Please let me know in the comments if you would like my partner and I to take pictures in addition to my reflection for this project**

I accomplished getting all my materials today (for the most part) and I also accomplished figuring out where I’m getting the rest of my materials for this project. I was able to accomplish this because everyone in my class was listening and my partner and I worked well together and did a lot of teamwork and compromises and gave each other feedback and good suggestions or thoughts that improved our plan and thoughts.

The Reason I Chose These Videos is Because…

I chose this because they all had to with Passover but there were VERY unique ways of showing it and also the perspectives that people were showing Passover from seemed very different but cool and I could definitely see how they thought about it that way.The thing I found interesting and I wonder about is that some of the videos I watched were very cool and educational but they didn’t show all the ten plagues or they didn’t do the ten plagues in order.I wonder about why they chose to do it like that?!Also what I found interesting is that people didn’t only do the ten plagues they also did what happend in between and before and after!I found that cool!Maybe we could do something like that!?

And Now Here Are Some Videos I thought Were Cool for Rube Goldberg’s for Passover………………………..

Chicken Mummifying Wrapping

  1. Clean chicken- all powder must be removed from inside and outside of the chicken.
    1. What does your chicken look like? Be descriptive and insert a picture here. Today when we put the chicken on the table we didn’t take the powder off right away. We looked at the chicken and we said it looks like a miniature model of a mountain with snow all over it.  And without the powder it looks like a big piece of rotten food.
    2. What are the most significant changes since day 1?
    3. The changes that were really big from day one was that the powder is not changing coolers it is staying the same and the chicken doesn’t have any moisture. Also the chicken is more hard and the chicken has a change of color. Also the chickens smell has changed but what we think the chicken smells like is dirty dog and rotten eggs.
    4. Do you think the changes are realistic to the changes you would see in an actual mummy? Why or why not? We think that part of what happening to the chicken happens to humans when there mummified because we think the humans smell won’t be the same and the look of a human is different but the human and chicken both will have the same thing happen to them when we put the powder in them.

  1. What supplies did you gather today? Today we gathered glue spice and our gauze that we are cutting into to smaller pieces. We also got water
  2. What measurements did you use for your gauze? The measurements were 20 inches 17 inches of gauze.
  3. How are you making sure each group member is included today?  We are missing one person today so it works better. One person is cutting gauze and one person is mixing the glue and water and one person is documenting. Everyone has their own job that help the group.

Wrap your chicken

  1. How many piece of gauze did you need? 15 -30
  2. How much glue did you use? How much water did you add? For glue we used 5 and a half. Also for water we use 2 cups.
  3. Did you put anything into your chicken? If so, what and how much? We used saw dust and spices. We put about 3 tablespoons of cloves and 3 cups of saw dust.
