I used to have absolutely no idea how traits were passed down and why I looked the way I looked.  Now I know that it is all because of genetics.

I now know that we have 46 chromosomes, inside the chromosomes are genes which are made up of DNA. I know now that I get half of my chromosomes from my mom and the other half from my dad. I also know that my genotype and phenotype comes from my alleles. And we use Punnett squares to help predict the probability of traits showing based on my parent’s genotype.

I don’t have that many questions about genetics, but sometimes I wonder how it all started. Who was the first person to have certain genetics and how did they get them? Like, do I have similar genetics to the first person to ever have DNA? I also wonder how genetics has anything to do with evolving? Like, how did we go from being an ape to becoming human? That also leads me to other questions that I have that include Judaism and god and all that stuff.
