Racism

I think that this video is important to show to other people because it can help people make less racist choices. I didn’t really learn anything different and my view of racism stayed the same. I don’t like that people of color are being treated differently because of their color. Racism is an idea or a mindset that you have the to classify others as lower than you are because they are different. I wish that they would be able to show this video to everyone because it can help people change their mindset about how they treat others. This video is a small step to making the world a better place. I think that we should be able to continue to do social phycological experiments or at least do phycological experiments. Down below is the video that was shown in class.

MGP- Purpose and Audience

1. Why does our purpose and audience matter in relation to the type of information and the format in which I present that information?

It matters because if I were to be doing a violent topic I can’t have my audience be 7-year-olds. Also if I were to do something mental health my audience has to consist of people who understand what I am talking about.
2. Who do you see as your target audience for your presentation?

For my project I see my audience being a 10-11-year-old crowd and up, however, I would probably have to say caution some parts may be too intense for younger viewers.
3. What do you hope your audience gains from your project, aka what is your purpose/lesson/theme? (see slide below for the 4 purposes of writing) (think about what your theme topics)

I want my audience to be more educated about mental health. I also want my audience to not be oblivious to what people are going through.

Quiz Corrections

1 What did I do well? What did I learn? What is my evidence of this?

I did well with the Punnett squares and analyzing what the offspring will look like.  I learned that the more practice I have even though it is really repetitive is helpful for me. The SpongeBob packet was full of Punnett square practice, I thought it was so boring and repetitive, but it actually helped me. So next time I will force my self to face repetitive examples.

2 What was challenging for me? What mistakes did I make? Why?

I think the most challenging thing for me was the explaining part, where I had to use the definitions to help me. I think that was challenging because I didn’t focus my studying on that because I thought I knew and understand the words really well. So next time I will study really well unless I am overly confident about my skill in that specific part. I made simple mistakes on one of the Punnett square problems. I needed to slow down and actually look at how I labeled my Punnet square, which was labeled correctly. I made this mistake because I was rushing. I learned from that that I need to slow down and actually look at what I am doing, and also to go back and check my answers.

3 What will I do next to move forward in my learning?

I will put this test behind me and focus on studying hard and managing my time so I don’t make silly mistakes. I will also take time to learn the new vocab really well so I don’t mess up on that again.

4 What questions do I have?

I don’t have any questions because I understand what I did wrong and I fixed them.

Genetics-What I Know so far.

I used to have absolutely no idea how traits were passed down and why I looked the way I looked.  Now I know that it is all because of genetics.

I now know that we have 46 chromosomes, inside the chromosomes are genes which are made up of DNA. I know now that I get half of my chromosomes from my mom and the other half from my dad. I also know that my genotype and phenotype comes from my alleles. And we use Punnett squares to help predict the probability of traits showing based on my parent’s genotype.

I don’t have that many questions about genetics, but sometimes I wonder how it all started. Who was the first person to have certain genetics and how did they get them? Like, do I have similar genetics to the first person to ever have DNA? I also wonder how genetics has anything to do with evolving? Like, how did we go from being an ape to becoming human? That also leads me to other questions that I have that include Judaism and god and all that stuff.
