Sukkah Day 9

2. Explain if you believe your group is ahead or behind other groups. Explain why you believe you are at that point. I think we are ahead of the other groups because we have all of our studs done on one side and we are almost done with our 3rd corner.

3. How effectively did your group communicate and collaborate with each other? Provide one SPECIFIC example to support your point. I was effective when my partner bossed me around and I talked with him and made sure he didn’t do it again.

4. Today is a complete reset from last week. What is one goal YOU have for yourself? Explain why you picked that goal.  My goal is to make sure I am helping the group because sometimes I leave to do something.

1. Describe what skills (s) you have learned so far. Who taught you those skills? How did they teach you those skills? I learned that sometimes you have to be patient. I’m not very patient so I need to be more patient.

Picture with me hammering a nail into the stud. I was happy because I did it all by myself.

Sukkah Day 8- Problem Solving

1. What are the five steps to solving a problem (please list the steps)?

  1. Define the problem.
  2. Stay calm and remind yourself that you can work it out. Use calming strategies if you need them.
  3. Think of at least three ways to solve the problem.
  4. Discuss the solutions with your friends and agree on one.
  5. If the solution works, you are done. If, not try another idea.
  6. 2. Your group identified a problem you were experiencing. What was the problem? What were your solutions? We were not getting confirmation from all of our group mates to do changes on the Sukkah. Our solutions were to talk to each other before making changes, be on the same page, and to improvise with each other.

    3. Describe how it felt working with your group after you identified your problem and came up with solutions.  It feels good because were all on the same page so we can all work together.

where were you? was out side of school working on the studs. what were you doing? I was nailing a nail to keep the stud in place. what did you feel at that time? I was proud of myself because I nailed in a nail all by myself.

Sukkah Day 7

1. Provide a SPECIFIC example of when you or a member of your group struggled to communicate effectively, with empathy, or appropriately. Make sure to include:
a. What led to that situation of miscommunication
b. How you felt when the miscommunication happened
c. How that miscommunication should have been handled instead. My group didn’t have a hard time communicating because we made sure that we talked to each other if we were about to do something and we made sure we were all working together.

2. Explain how poor communication let your team down. Make sure to include:
a. What was your team goal
b. What did you achieve in comparison to your team goal. It didn’t let my team down because we worked well together and had good communication. We made sure we all helped the group in a way even if the thing was small thing.

3. Describe one positive example of communication you witnessed/did yesterday during class. Make sure to include:
a. What was the situation

Sukkah Wall Construction (Day 6)

1. You spent time reflection on past blog posts (looking at your strengths and weaknesses). Describe the value, using a specific example from your blog post, of looking back and reflecting on our work

2. We started to build our walls. What would you have done differently during the process and WHY? Explain what you did and how your fix would have made it better. I should of talked with my group before we started everything because we didn’t really talk so I was kinda confused. I would fix this by talking to my group to make sure I understand everything and so we can communicate.

Sukkah Purchasing Day

Here’s us picking out nails and screw           Here’s us buying everything

1. Describe a situation when you collaborated well with your group yesterday (make sure to set the scene: what were you doing, what happened, how did you feel). I collaborated well with my group when we were picking the wood we all helped each other with putting the wood on the cart. I felt good because we were working together.

2. Provide a specific example of a time when you did not collaborate well with your group yesterday (make sure to set the scene: what were you doing, what happened, how did you feel). When we were pick the spray paint because they wanted the more expensive paint and I wanted to cheaper. I felt annoyed because we ended up picking the more expensive because they were brighter colors.

3. For your specific example of your struggles, how would you change your behavior/actions next time so as to do better. Be specific on what you would do. I would of taken a breath instead of yelling at them because yelling doesn’t help the problem it makes it worse.

4. Explain how well you planned (what you need to buy and how much) and executed that plan (actually did what you said you were going to do).  We planed well by writing down home much of everything we need so right when we got there we could go into each section and get what we needed.

Include at least 2 photos from yesterday, with a description for each photo (ex: where were you, what were you doing, what did you feel at that time)

Sukkah Day 1

1. Yesterday, we started our Sukkah project by planing out what we need. My part in the process was to look for wood and nails.
2. I am excited about building the sukkah because I have been waiting to do it and its only in 7th grade.
3. I am a bit worried/not looking forward to building it because i’m scared i’m going to hurt my self when I use a drill.
4. My biggest challenge yesterday was agreeing with my group because they want to spend a lot of money on pillows and we don’t have the money .
5. Today, I will overcome my challenges by working with my group and get the planning done.

Sukkah Day 3

1. On Friday, we worked on our organization of our purchasing plan. We are organized with our purchasing because we planed out what we need.
2. My level of organization has helped our Sukkah project so far. An example of this is I made sure that we made sure we got done what we needed to get done for example the paint, finding carriage bolts and finding pieces of wood.

Partner DBQ Reflection

  1. How do you analyze documents with a partner? My partner and I did it separately but we kept checking in on each other.
  2. What is useful about working with a partner when you analyze sources? You can ask questions.
  3. What did you not like about working with a partner? Why? I like working with a partner because you can ask each other questions. But I don’t like it because I think it’s easier to work on DBQ alone.
  4. Did working with a partner help you better answer our essential question? Why or Why not? No because I didn’t work with my partner we worked separately.

Civil War Speed Dating Reflection

  • What role did your character play in causing the Civil War? My character was Lloyd Garraison and he lead a campaign against slavery.
  • Did your Character believe in slavery? Why? Why not? No because he thought it was so bad that he told north to leave because he didn’t want them to get hurt.
  • Does your character believe that the government should have power to tell states what to do? He was outspoken and for most of his life he created a new government that prevented slaves and gave all men equal rights.
  • What other person/people does your character believe is most at fault for causing the war? He thinks it’s south because they wanted slaves but north did not.
  • Do you like the character you were assigned? Why?  Yes because he tried to stop slavery and slavery was really bad.

Slavery Primary Sources

How did the experiences of slaves first hand compare to what we have read about in the past? Were our secondary sources accurate to the slave experience? Explain. It was different because at first it was from people who have done research but know is was from the slaves prospective and through    there eyes how it went down and what was going on.

What was one new thing you learned from reading these stories? I learned that a lot of families go in together because I thought is was rare to go with your families but in the stories there was people with there mom, dad, grandma, brothers and sisters.

Did reading these stories from slaves change your perspective? How so? Yes because you could see there story and there stories through there eyes with there families or by themselves.

How do you think that the stories of slaves relates to our essential question of “Why do people move?” ? I think it connects because some people were forced to go and be slaves but some people had to get out of there place because of problems there or needed to go some where for better food, jobs, etc.

Why did slaves move? Be specific in your answer. They moved because they were either forced to because I pretty sure know one wants to be a slave and work for people and get bet up.
