Balloon Challenge Day 4

HL: Documenting

OC and SM: Presenting/Testing

First, OC and SM got a new balloon and a new straw

Then, SM put the straw in the balloon and tied it of with a rubber band

After that, OC blew up the balloon.

The first time OC blew up a balloon, it didn’t work because there was a hole in the straw

The second time though, it worked when OC blew up the balloon because SM got a new straw

Then OC and SM tested/presented the boat.

When OC and SM presented the boat, it moved!!

Then we took the balloon out of the water and SM and OC took the balloon and the straw out of the boat and threw it out.

I accomplished the boat moving today: ; I was able to accomplish this because… We all worked together and It worked.

We accomplished everything we needed to.

Balloon Challenge Day 3

HL: Documenting

SM and OC: Building the boat

Boat Day Three

OC and SM took our cut milk carton from yesterday and blew up a new balloon with the straw.

Then we put it into the water a let go of the ballon.

It moved a little but we still need to figure out how to make it move all the way across the basin.

OC got it to move the second time we tried!

SM decided to take pictures of are process.

YAY!! It worked.

What worked was that after we flipped the balloon around, it floated better.

Conflict in Fiction Tutorial

Think about a book you’re reading now or one you’ve read recently.

What type of conflict occurred in the story? Character vs self she has to think about what she wants to do. Character vs Character she has fights with other people sometimes.  Character vs Society because the school in the book has a party and everybody consoled on the party but then they all went.

How did it move the rest of the story along? The story snowballed and it just keep going the same conflict.

Was the conflict resolved? How? It didn’t end.

If not, how do you think it will be resolved? I think it will just keep going into the other books because i’m reading the first book and there are other books.

Boat Challenge Day 2

HL: Documenting

OC and SM: Building the boat

My group decided to build a ballon boat.

  1. SM washed out our milk carton
  2. OC and SM taped the drinking hole shut
  3. OC and SM cut one of the sides of the milk carton out
  4. OC cut a tiny hole in the back of the boat
  5. OC put a straw in the balloon and tried it in with a rubber band
  6. OC blew up the balloon from a straw
  7. SM also did what OC did
  8. SM and OC put the blown up ballon with the straw into the milk carton
  9. SM and OC put the boat in the water and… it did not work so well.

Next time we did a bigger basin!

Chicken Mummification

DON’T FORGET TO INCLUDE PICTURES. YOU SHOULD INCLUDE PICTURES FOR EACH STEP TODAY!

VOICE LEVEL TODAY 2-3

  1. Clean chicken- all powder must be removed from inside and outside of the chicken.
  2. What does your chicken look like? Be descriptive and insert a picture here. Today when we put the chicken on the table we didn’t take the powder off right away. We looked at the chicken and we said it looks like a miniature model of a mountain with snow all over it.  And without the powder it looks like a big piece of rotten food.
  3. What are the most significant changes since day 1?
  4. The changes that were really big from day one was that the powder is not changing coolers it is staying the same and the chicken doesn’t have any moisture. Also the chicken is more hard and the chicken has a change of color. Also the chickens smell has changed but what we think the chicken smells like is dirty dog and rotten eggs.
  5. Do you think the changes are realistic to the changes you would see in an actual mummy? Why or why not? We think that part of what happening to the chicken happens to humans when there mummified because we think the humans smell won’t be the same and the look of a human is different but the human and chicken both will have the same thing happen to them when we put the powder in them.

GET CHECKED, have you been taking pictures?

  1. Gather and prepare supplies for stuffing and wrapping your chicken (1 metal tin for mixing glue, 1 metal tin to keep your chicken in)
    1. What supplies did you gather today? Today we gathered glue spice and our gauze that we are cutting into to smaller pieces. We also got water
    2. What measurements did you use for your gauze? The measurements were 20 inches 17 inches of gauze.
    3. How are you making sure each group member is included today?  We are missing one person today so it works better. One person is cutting gauze and one person is mixing the glue and water and one person is documenting. Everyone has their own job that help the group.

  1. GET CHECKED, have you been taking pictures?

  1. Wrap your chicken
    1. How many piece of gauze did you need? 15 -30
    2. How much glue did you use? How much water did you add? For glue we used 5 and a half. Also for water we use 2 cups.
    3. Did you put anything into your chicken? If so, what and how much? We used saw dust and spices. We put about 3 tablespoons of cloves and 3 cups of saw dust.
  2. GET CHECKED, have you been taking pictures?

  1. Clean up all materials, store your chicken, wipe your table

  1. GET CHECKED, did you take pictures? Do you think you included enough detail in your responses above? Is there anything else you think is important to add from today? If so, write it below.
