Sukkah Purchasing Day

Here’s us picking out nails and screw           Here’s us buying everything

1. Describe a situation when you collaborated well with your group yesterday (make sure to set the scene: what were you doing, what happened, how did you feel). I collaborated well with my group when we were picking the wood we all helped each other with putting the wood on the cart. I felt good because we were working together.

2. Provide a specific example of a time when you did not collaborate well with your group yesterday (make sure to set the scene: what were you doing, what happened, how did you feel). When we were pick the spray paint because they wanted the more expensive paint and I wanted to cheaper. I felt annoyed because we ended up picking the more expensive because they were brighter colors.

3. For your specific example of your struggles, how would you change your behavior/actions next time so as to do better. Be specific on what you would do. I would of taken a breath instead of yelling at them because yelling doesn’t help the problem it makes it worse.

4. Explain how well you planned (what you need to buy and how much) and executed that plan (actually did what you said you were going to do).  We planed well by writing down home much of everything we need so right when we got there we could go into each section and get what we needed.

Include at least 2 photos from yesterday, with a description for each photo (ex: where were you, what were you doing, what did you feel at that time)

Sukkah day 2

  1. Yesterday, we worked on our Sukkah project by finding paint and carriage bolts. My part in the process was to find paint because we are going to paint our wall black and then use pink and orange neon spray paint to spray paint something on the black wall.
    2. One thing I learned because of this Sukkah project was about carriage bolts because I didn’t know that was a thing. Carriage bolts is a bolt that you use to put big pieces of wood together.

San Diego Breakout Reflection

  • How did having limited time to play the game impact your teamwork? It didn’t really impact my team because we added an extra 20 minutes.
    • What strategies might you use to help this?
    • What tips would you suggest to others?

    • What strategies might you use to support your thinking?
    • What tips would you suggest to others?
  • In what way(s) were your critical thinking and strategies different during the timed games than they were during the initial games? It impact my team because even during timed games I would not get distracted but during this game my team and I kept getting really distracted.
  • What Top 3 strategies/tips would you suggest to others when playing a timed game? Make sure you ask your self did I click everything? Am I working with my team? Am I asking myself the google doc questions?

Minecraft Reflection

  • What did you notice or observe during this challenge? I noticed that the last question that I was working on was really hard and we had to try 3 times and we still didn’t get it also I noticed that the questions were easy and then they got harder as the challenge went.
  • What kind of questions did you ask yourself (meta)? I asked myself did I click everything?  Did I make sure that I was writing everything down and making sure I check my work more then once?

  • What was your “aha” moment during this challenge? How did this impact finishing the challenge?  My biggest aha moment was I finished the questions because some of them were really hard.

  • How did this challenge compare to the other two we have completed? This one it was easy and then got hard but the other ones were pretty much all easy.

  • What was the most challenging aspect of this challenge? The last question because I still didn’t have enough time to finish it and it was really challenging.

  • What two strategies helped you and your team the most when completing the challenge? (Use the strategy sheet for this! If you used a different strategy, list it here as well) We used a sheet to write down the answers that were wrong and we circled the ones that were right.

Silly Shamrocks Reflection

  • What did you notice or observe during this challenge? I noticed that the questions got harder as we went through the challenge.

  • What kind of questions did you ask yourself (meta)? I asked my self did I check everything and did I read more then once.

  • How did the time limit impact your ability to solve this breakout session? No it just stressed us out.

  • What were your biggest connections when solving this challenge? When we realized that the guy was wearing a hat.

  • What was the most challenging aspect of this challenge?  The time limit because we only had a little bit of time.

  • What two strategies helped you and your team the most when completing the challenge? One was clicking everything and reading more then once.

Og’s Great Adventure Reflection

  • What did you notice or observe during the challenge? I noticed that I had to click a lot of stuff to find clues and solve them.

  • What kind of questions did you ask yourself (meta)? I asked my self if I was doing it correctly and what was I doing.

  • When did you first begin drawing connections between the different puzzles and pictures? The puzzle.
  • What were those connections? My connections were to make the question connect to the pictures.

  • What were your biggest clues? My biggest clues were the spikes on the dinosaur in the puzzle.

  • What was most challenging? The most challenging this for my group and I was the 9 letter lock because we had to figure out what to do and what to click.

  • What was your biggest ah-ha moment? Why? My biggest ah-ha moment was when we got the 9 letter lock because is was really hard to solve.

Reflecting on Clue

What thinking moves did you use when playing this game (questioning, connecting, listening, observing, deducing, reasoning, etc? I was thinking I hope I get into a room. I was also thinking about the clue cards because some people in my group wanted to use them but some didn’t and I don’t know how to use them so I was thinking how do I use them.

  • How did organizing your information impact your experience playing the game? I helped me by making sure that I was writing notes and making sure I pay attention so I can make good guesses.

  • Where else do you use these thinking skills (at school, at home, on sports teams, etc)?  Science  because in science we have to make hypothesis about different guesses when we do labs.

  • When might you need this kind of thinking?  Maybe in when I play at home because I can make sheets and use my strategies.

First Clue

  • What did you notice or observe during the game? I noticed that I was the only one who has never played clue before.
  • What kind of questions did you ask yourself (meta)? I asked myself how do I play this.
  • When did you first begin drawing connections between different characters, clues, pieces of information? I started when people made guesses and other people showed them i made the connection.
  • What were those connections? When people made guesses and other people showed them I made the connection.
  • What were your biggest clues? When I would or someone else made a guess and know one should there cards.
  • What information seems most important to collect? I tried to figure out who has what cards and what cards are in the envelope.
  • *What is the difference between an observation and information? Observation is guess and make clues and information is when you put different pieces together like a puzzle.

Testing our Rapunzel Creations

What materials did you choose for your build and why?

Popsicle sticks- For bases for the tree and the tower.

Foam- for mattress base.

Fluffing- For the bed so its squishy.

model magic- For the prince, princes, bedding and pillows.

paper- tower, base, and backdrop.

crayons- to color the backdrop, tower, and river.

Hot glue- for gluing everything on the base

string- for zip line and rope.

pipe cleaners- for the tree

gems- to decorate the top of the tower.

Here is a picture of my plan:

Here is a picture of my first attempt at the building process:

While you test:

What are you noticing? We noticed that Rapunzel is weighing down the zip line because of her hair and weighing down the whole backdrop.

What things are working? The tower stands up and the tree stands up.

What things are not working? Rapunzel is weighing down the zip line because of her hair and weighing down the whole backdrop. Also the zip line is too low so when she goes down the zip line she goes into the river.

How will you tweak this? Make this better? (Be specific and detailed!) We will first make the string tighter for the zip line, then remake Rapunzel so she can fit in the seat, and then remake the seat to fit Rapunzel.

Do you need any new materials? If so, WHY?

Model magic- so we can remake Rapunzel

paper- so we can remake the seat

hot glue- so we can re-glue the zip line

Sketch your new design with labels on a piece of paper. Make sure your drawing is detailed and specifically labeled.

Insert your sketch here:

Why will this new design work better than your first attempt? What is your evidence? It will work because Rapunzel with be smaller and more tiny so she won’t way down the backdrop and the string will be titter so Rapunzel isn’t touching the ground when you put her in the seat.

Building Reflection

What about the building process was challenging? something that was challenging for me was making sure every member on my team was doing something that is part of the build and making sure that everybody feels like they involved in the challenge.

How did your build differ from your plan? (If your build was different than your plan, update your plan!) our plan was different from our plan because we added a tip line and out tree was just a extra thing.

How did your group work well together during the build? What would you do again? We did well by making sure everybody had a part and was working together.

How did your group struggle during the build? What would you change? Making sure that we filled out our packets as we went through the building process.
