Classroom Economy-Day 1

Explain the role/job you have been assigned for our Classroom Economy.

I am making sure that everyone(including myself) has their homework written down in their assignment notebook. I have to write my siganture in everyones notebook as evidence to the teacher of doing my job correctly. If I dont sign people’s assignment notebook(inclduing mine), I have to pay $25, per assingment notebook not signed.

What are you most excited/nervous about for our Classroom Economy?

I am most nervous about having to be strict if someone hasnt filled out their assignment notebook. This is because I dont want to come off as mean, but at the same time, I need to get the job done. I will make a goal of having a balance between being strict, yet still being nice and understanding to others.

In my mind, poverty is caused by…

I think poverty is caused by someone loosing their job. Then they cant pay bills(due to not having money). After that, they are evicted and dont have money to pay other bills like groceries and medical bills. This then causes them to be in poverty. I think it is very hard to get a new job after being in poverty. This is because in order to get to a job interview, you usually need transportation to get there and other things such as nice clothes and while in poverty, it is very hard to get those things.

  1. it is tough to balance being kind with making sure you get the job done. sometimes, you have to be a little mean because you are doing your job as best you can.

  2. Your concerns about being firm, yet kind are very valid! This is something many people (myself included!) struggle with. By practicing and working on this now, you are preparing yourself well for future situations. I’d love to hear how you accomplish this.
    Good luck!

    • Thank you so much for the nice comment. Also, thank you for letting me know that many people struggle with being kind, yet strict. This is very comforting to know. So far, I feel that I have had a good balance of being kind, yet strict. I will kee you updated if anything changes. Thanks so much!
