Cornell Notes Reflection

Did you use the websites provided to you for this activity? Did they help?

I actually did not realize those were there until now because I was sick when we started this project. Im sure they would have helped though if I did use them.

How do you think you can use your cornell notes in the future?

I think if I forget about something or have a question about something, I can go back to those notes as a reference. Maybe also, I could write down questions that come to mind when talking/learning about the colonies. I already started doing to this to one of the sections in my notes.

What are 3 new things you learned from researching the colonies in this way?

  • I learned that there is a place in Wisconsin called “Plymouth campgrounds” or something like that and then there is the real Plymouth in Cape Cod bay, Massachusetts
  • The Pilgrims used to be called the Puritans
  • There used to be a prison specifically meant for people who did not pay their debt

Why did we do this activity?

I think we did this activity because we learned more than just the surface information about colonies and since we are in the colonies unit, this would make sense to learn about. An example of how we learned more than just the surface information was because before we were just learning about that there were 13 colonies, but then we learned about specific ones and who founded them and information like that.

How did you research for this activity?

In the begining I researched using a lot of words and some of them were not needed. For example:”What is debtors prison?” Towards the end, I would type in things like:”debtors prison.” This way I took out the words I didnt need and it gave me better information because it was more credible and detailed.

What were the biggest challenges you encountered during this activity?

It was sometimes hard to find the information right away and Im used to finding the information right away. Instead I would have to scroll down some of the time to find the information. I think it would have helped as I mentioned before if I used the links given to me.

How did you overcome your challenges?

I explained above how I did that. I also would sometimes if I really struggled to find an answer would just put down my best guess if I couldnt find the exact answer.
