My Jewish Studies Project

For Jewish studies, we made a project about our beliefs in God and we also had to do a writing piece. This is my writing piece and a picture of my project.

My project is an explanation of my idea of God/Judaism. I don’t remember exactly when I came up with my idea but I know that as soon as I did I created a slide and drew my idea of what I wanted to make. My idea is that God is only there as a way to teach us all how to live life. Same with the Torah. All the stories in the Torah may not have happened, but they can still teach us valuable lessons about life.

At the beginning of this unit, I thought that God and Judaism were all a hoax and I didn’t care about any of it. Rambam said, “If only they had forsaken me, but kept my Torah” In other words saying that we should follow the Jewish values in the Torah instead of ignoring them and praying to God.

My project is pretty self-explanatory. I have a big box full of Jewish principles with a funnel leading into it. That funnel represents God. Therefore, God is simply a funnel/way to teach people about Jewish principles.

SBC Reflection

a. How many weeks of the challenge did you participate in? (1 sentence) All 8 of them.

b. How many comments did you receive from classmates, teachers, or other visitors? (1 sentence) 7 of them.
c. Which post did you enjoy writing the most and why? (3 sentences) I enjoyed writing about my silly little face that I made from code. It was so much fun to create that dumb little emoji. It was also funny to see my comments from it.
d. Which web tools did you use to show creativity on your blog? (1 sentence) I used Google’s song maker to make my amazing song for the music blog post.
f. What did you learn about yourself during this challenge? (3 sentences) I learned that I am very good when given a single prompt and being told to use it. I was able to do that in the “do whatever you want” blog post when I made my silly emoji. I also was able to do that in the music blog post.

My Holiday Picture

Image result for present

This picture represents my favorite Jewish Holiday, Hannukah. Hannukah is basically the poor man’s Christmas. Although instead of one day of presents, we get 8 crazy nights. Presents are the only reason I look forward to Hannukah. Also, the only reason kids get presents for Hannukah is so the Jewish kids don’t feel bad when everyone else gets Christmas presents. It’s still sort of fun, though.

Our Classroom Economy

In Social Studies we are starting our own class economy. Basically, we all get jobs and make money and just have our own little economy.

Today we were randomly given our jobs. The pay for each job could range from 140 to 4,000. My job pays 170 dollars. Yippee. After every class, I have to stack all the chairs. My dream job!

I also have to pay 10 dollars weekly in hopes of doing something with my life and if any chairs are out of place I get fined 20 dollars.

Suffice to say, I am extremely pleased with my job.

What are you most excited/nervous about for our Classroom Economy?

I’m most excited about the massive pay I get for my job. I’m going to be super-rich.

In my mind, poverty is caused by a vicious cycle where the poor get poorer and the rich get richer.

Math Problem Reflection

Which part was the most difficult for me?

The most difficult part for me was definitely coming up with ideas for how to make my problem more difficult. It was hard making it still possible while also difficult.

Which part I liked the most?

I loved writing my problem on the poster because that was easy and my handwriting was absolutely beautiful.

What did I learn from this task?

I learned more about how to balance an equation if x is the time variable.

What I would change the next time?

Next time I would make my poster writing bigger so other kids wouldn’t complain.

Joe’s Trip To Florida

Joe went to Florida at a speed of 55 mph. Joe came back from Florida 20% slower. In total, he traveled 500 miles, with the majority of that on his trip TO Florida. However, Joe traveled 40 min longer on his way to Florida. How far did Joe travel on the way to Florida?

Math people, you apparently have 2 days to solve this.

A Personal Emoji

I found this absolute gem of a site called Google’s made with code emoji project. Essentially, you use layers and x and y variables to make your own emoji. One might say this is a creative way to teach kids to learn. I say they give kids to much freedom. The reason I say that is because whenever I find a site like this the first thing I do is immediately mess around with it. Hence, my beautiful child.

There is a problem, though. He has no name. Please give me your finest name suggestions in the comments below.
