Adding Unlike Denominators

5/6 + 7/18 =

(least common multiple)LCM: 6,12,18,24,30,36

(least common multiple)LCM:18,36

I’m finding the least common multiple because then we can make the denominators the same so we can add the fractions together.

5/6 = 6×6=36 and 5×6=30 = 30/36

7/18= 18×2=36 7×2=14= 14/36

The denominators of the fractions need to be the same because the denominator represents the whole number and they both need to have the the same whole to be added together.

30/36+14/36=43/36= 1 and 7/36 

Above, I turned an improper fraction in a mixed number. This is how you do it: You minus 43 from 36 and you get 7. With the seven you have left that goes with the whole number and makes 1 and 7/36.

 

ETC Reflection So Far

Thinking back to all the challenges we have worked on, what growth have you seen in yourself so far, as well as others?

What I have seen in my growth is that I’m making sure I speak up and make sure that I can add on to someones plan. I used this growth in a few of the challenges  we have done so far in the year. For example, In the make- it – move challenge someone in my group made sure that I could have a turn building and a turn to share what I think.

For others, I have seen about 5 people who have shown growth by, making sure that others have a turn speaking and are not being left out and trying there hardest and not getting upset at someone for making a mistake.

High Holdays Reflection

1. Why did I pick my topic?

Me and Simon picked our topic because it made the most sence and how it is a good driving question.

2. What was a main idea that I learned that I did not know before?

That there are lots of ways to show forgiveness on the high holidays even if there is only a few ways that you know of.

3. What did I find interesting and enjoy about doing my project?

That me and Simon chose to do a posterboard. I loved it because my passion is to draw and write. Also that you can write out all the knowlege you know. I heard it was good for you by it helps endurce your’e knowlege and how its better for you to write it out.

4. How did doing my project enhance or influence my high holiday experience?

By knowing what the rabbi is talking about so it makes the service more interesting, For example, when the rabbi was talking about the next upcoming holiday (yom kippur) He was talking about repentance and I know what repentance is because we taked about it in class. Also,it is just something good you should know. More knowlege is more food for your’e brain.

Timeline Reflection

What did you think of your finished product?

I think it was well done but I think I could use more pictures.

What was fun or exciting about this project?

I got to take pictures and find pictures of me as a young kid. It was funny!

What are you most proud of from this process?

I think that it ended up really neat (that’s what I think)

What would you change if you had to do it again?

I would add more to my timeline like switching schools, Losing pets, ex.

Ziplineing Trip

When I wnt ziplineing, I was scared I absoulutley didn’t want to do it but everyone in my team was saying I was very brave so i just closed my eyes and jumped. It took me a while to decide if i should jump or not but I realized that It wasn’t going streaght down it was just doing that to scare me and when I went down, It was so much fun. I just kept forgetting that nothing bad was going to happen to me so I kept getting scared. Afterwards, I really wanted to go back again.

Science Reflection

 

  • What challenge excited you the most? Why?
  • Saving fred becasue we only had 4 paper clips and we had to make sure we couldn’t drop fred.(unless he had the life preserver on) Also I got to work with my friends that helped me out.

 

 

 

  • What was difficult about the challenges?
  • That We only had 4 paper clips and It was SO HARD to put fred into the life preserver! ( and to streach out the life preserver with 3 paper clips)

 

 

 

  • What was comfortable about the challenges?
  • That it was not difficult to flip the boat right side up and put fred in the boat. Also it was not difficult when we  finished and tryed to find a different stradegy when we tried  again.

 

 

 

  • What is something you want to work on moving forward?
  • To try to use less paper clips to streach out the life preserver(making it more challenging)

 

 

 

  • What are you looking forward to this year in science?
  • More experiments and more group work ( because I like to wotk alone most of the time but, some prodgects need a group.)

Cheshire Crossing / Summary

Dorathy, Wendy, and Alice are sent to a school/dorm for “crazy” people. Alice wanted to escape the school/dorm so she used Dorathy’s silver slipers to escape to Oz. Wendy didn’t care she just wanted to keep her knife with her (just in case). And Dorathy wanted to get back to Oz and take back her silver slippers. But Dorathy didn’t have her silver slippers so Wendy took Dorathy to Never land and traveled to Oz to go get her slippers. So Wndy and Dorathy went to Never land and Got a potian to teleport through a portal to Oz. But the evil witch From Oz was following Alice all along.

I chose Unlocking the character because I like to draw and secondly I Want to show everything that makes the characters so special.

Math Progect Reflection 📑📖📰

My project was a state/ national park. I think that I am proud of the pictures I put in the sections. For example, in the pool section, I put a ‘life gaurd on dutey’ sighn and an umbrella and towel and lots of people. If I could do something differently I would make the pool bigger and I would add how much money everything is. I learned about combined shapes and how you use them and how they come into your every day life.

Study Plan! 📜📗

For my study plan, the most common thing for this unit that I messed up on was incorrect subtracting for division. I think that I should work on this because there is a lot of dividing in the test we are taking soon. Another thing that was something I mostly messed up on was going fast. That I should focus on a lot because if keep going fast then I won’t understand the word problem or just problem I’m working on.
