Sukkah Day 17

This is a friend putting up our roof.

This is me sawing support beams.

This is all our plywood we accumulated.

1. Sukkot represents impermanence (something that should not be permanent). Explain if you believe or disagree that our Sukkah, which is safely standing on its own, is violating that. I do not think so. As long as our sukkah can come down easily than it should be fine.

2. Describe how this Sukkah project has changed your perspective (how has it changed, what has it changed about, has it changed for the better/worst). Well, it changed my point of view on yelling at people. When I yell it makes me feel bad but I just can’t stop yelling. In the beginning, I didn’t care “Aw whatever it doesn’t matter nobody cares” is what I said but now I think of it a very different way.

3. Explain how you have used your body thus far to build this Sukkah. I used the strength and I guess height to lift, hammer, screw, drag, etc, anything that needed to be lifted, hammered, screwed, dragged, or carried.

4. How do you plan on getting guests into the Sukkah? Well, I think they will come just because they are forced to and I do not think they will have a choice. But on a view of actually getting them in the sukkah, there is a door.

5. What are some activities you wish to do in the Sukkah? I wish to shake the lulav and have fun with friends in the sukkah.

Sukkah Day 16

1. What did you do today (describe the process of what you accomplished)? – minimum 3 complete sentences. I drilled holes for carriage bolts.  This took a really long time because of the thickness of the wood. I brought plywood to our sukkah location. Whilst doing this I dropped plywood on my ankles which really hurt a lot.

2. What is one thing you have done so far you were initially scared/worried about, but now feel more confident in after all this practice? – minimum of 3 complete sentences. I was scared today about drilling. While I was drilling I punched threw the wooden boards. This tipped over my ladder just a tiny bit and left me a little scared.

3. Give a step by step account of what you have done so far to get our Sukkah up to where it is today. First, I took plywood to the sukkah location. Then, I helped a classmate put support for our sukkah. After that, I started drilling holes for carriage bolts.

This is our wall with the window in place.

This is the MJDS logo that will reside on the outside of the wall for everyone to see.

This is a wall pre-window

Sukkah Day 15

1. What did you do today (describe the process of what you accomplished)? – minimum of 3 complete sentences. I helped another group by with help installing their window constraints. I helped put two walls up and secure them.  I also carried a wall to our sukkah location.

2. What is one thing you have done so far you were initially scared/worried about, but now feel more confident in after all this practice? – minimum of 3 complete sentences. I was scared of nailing and carrying walls. I was scared of nailing because it takes a lot of strength. I was scared of carrying the walls because we had to carry it a long distance and our communication was terrible.

3. Give a step by step account of what you have done so far to get our Sukkah up to where it is today. First, I helped another group secure window constraints. Second, I lifted a wall to the sukkah location. Then I had to get a new battery for our drills. After that, I lifted two more walls.

This is a bunch of classmates carrying the supports for our wall.

This is our first standing wall.

Another picture of our finished wall.

Sukkah Day 14

1. Explain in at least two sentences what YOU accomplished today. I helped make the window frame for ES21’s wall. I also moved 3 of the finished walls.

2. Explain in at least two sentences what YOUR GROUP accomplished today. We finished our wall. First, we had to screw in a few screws. Then, we had to saw our final part of the door frame. After that, we had to move it to our sukkah location.

3. Explain in at least two sentences what YOUR GROUP has to finish tomorrow. If you don’t know, ask a group member. We have to help other groups with securing all the walls, We also might have to help another group move their wall.

Sukkah Day 13

. Today, we worked on the door frame and it felt frustrating to do this because I was fighting and very frustrated with my group and my wall.

2. An example of when I worked well with a classmate was none I did not work well with classmates because I got sent to the office for yelling at a groupmate whilst not being able to screw in a screw.

3. I have the securing of the doorframe left on my Sukkah wall. I am feeling good about the amount of work left.
