Sukkah Purchasing Day

1. Describe a situation when you collaborated well with your group yesterday (make sure to set the scene: what were you doing, what happened, how did you feel).

We collaborated well together at ReStore when we decided that we wanted to incorperate a giant whiteboard into our sukkah to be part of our wall. We had to work together to lift it, get a cart, and hold the cart still while we were putting it on. Also, at Lowe’s as me and Se21 were getting the wood while Es21 and Jw21 got carrage bolts and screws, me and Se21 relized that we had gone over budget and wouldn’t be able to get all the wood that we needed. My group and Bw21’s group (Bw21, Ak21, Mm21, and Og21) were each doing a wall however, they were the same walls with size and amount of wood that we would need so we got together to make things easier (because we needed to get the same things). When me and Se21 were getting wood, Bw21 and Ak21 were also getting wood so when we realized that we were over budget, we got them and tried to work it out together. I also went to get Es21 and Jw21 so we could explain our problem and try to figure it out. We got Adon Kaufman to help us and he told us that we needed even more wood than we thought we needed! With the wood we thought we needed, we were already over budget, so when we were told that we basically needed 10 more pieces of wood, we kind of freaked out. Me and Bw21 went to the side to try and figure out how much my group spent at ReStore (we knew the prices but there were a lot of discounts). We had spent almost a third of our budget at ReStore! In the end we had to end up shortening the length of our wall however we still didn’t have time to get plywood. We all went back to school hot and tired but thankfully 6th grade came to help us unload the wood from our bus.

2. Provide a specific example of a time when you did not collaborate well with your group yesterday (make sure to set the scene: what were you doing, what happened, how did you feel).

We did not collaborate well when we were loading the wood onto the bus. This was at ReStore and we were pushing the cart outside to the bus. We almost knocked the cart into a car and when we loading everything into the bus, we were confused on what to do so we argued a little (more like the whole class rather than just my group though).

3. For your specific example of your struggles, how would you change your behavior/actions next time so as to do better. Be specific on what you would do.

I would make sure that I was helping to steer the cart/load up the bus because those were the times we argued. For steering the cart, I would maybe go infront and help direct people towards the bus so they wouldn’t run into anything. For the bus, I would ask how to help rather than just guess and get it wrong and annoy people.

4. Explain how well you planned (what you need to buy and how much) and executed that plan (actually did what you said you were going to do).

Me and Se21 didn’t plan as much because we were working on washing the milk cartons for our decorations. I feel kind of bad for spending so much time doing that because that put us kind of behind. We didn’t plan very well because if you look at the first question you can see that we overestimated our budget and therefore went over it which just made a mess at Lowe’s.
