7th One Pager Summer Reading Assessment

A picture of my mind map:

Explain three choices you made on your one pager which show your comprehension of the book or what you learned from the book.

One choice I made on my one pager was to draw all of the faction symbols next to the name of the faction. I made this choice because it showed that I understood the faction symbols and which faction they went with.

Another choice I made was to write the word “Divergent” in all the faction colors. This shows that I know what my book is about and what “Divergent” means. (Divergent means you could belong in multiple factions so I used all of the colors of the factions to show that)

One more choice that I made to was add all of the names of the factions. This shows that I understood what the faction names were. I also wrote what the factions were about (the smart ones, the fighters…etc.) which showed that I knew what each faction did.

Explain how you used color on your one pager.

I used color by coloring in the names of the factions with their colors (Dauntless-black, Erudite-Blue…). This showed what color each faction had and also made it look less boring and plain.

Explain two pieces of textual evidence and why you choose that text for your one pager.

One piece of textual evidence that I put into my one pager was the quote, “First Jumper-Tris!”. I put this quote in for multiple reasons. One is because Tris was a transfer from abnegation and abnegations transfers almost never jump first, but she did. The other reason is that this is when Tris met Four who is later her boyfriend.

Another piece of textual evidence that I put into my one pager was my answer to the question, “What are factions?”. I put that in because the whole book is circled around factions and if you don’t know/understand what a faction is, my mind map and the book would be very confusing to read.

Which learning goal did you do your best work on? Which one do you find challenging?

The learning goal I did my best work on was probably following directions or using textual evidence to support opinions. The one that I found challenging was probably managing my time because while I didn’t rush my mind map, I kind of put it off for a while before doing it.(I still got it done before Monday)
