One Word Goal For 2019

Brave

אמיץ

I chose this because this year I want to try new opportunities. In previous years, I would usually back down new things just because I was afraid, but this year I will try them and be brave! Maybe I can also learn new things and share that with other people by being brave!?

Reflection On Year In Teffilah

  1. What were three of your favorite things we did in tefilah this year, and why? My first one is “Rosh Chodesh” groups because we got to be with just the girls in our class and it was fun talking and bonding with them! The second one was glee because I love to sing and I met new people! The last one is the friendship circle because I know the people who did it and it was funny with the activities that we did but we also learned about other people!
  2. What were two of your least favorite things we did in tefilah this year, and why? The first one is when we looked through a siddur and wrote about the prayer because it was really boring and not very meaningful to me. I dont really have another one.
  3. We will have tefilah on the calendar again next year.  What would you like to keep or continue in tefilah? Everything besides for what I mentioned above and maybe we could have a lot more meditaton and kind of make it into a spa and give massages!
  4. What would you like to have less of in tefillah? Maybe people talking and being direspectful to each other and to teachers.
  5. What would you like to add to tefilah? Maybe for the Rosh Chodesh we can do less of the would you rather and instead just have a naraul converstaion about something and try to relate it to jusdism. Also maybe we could do a spa day during rosh Chodesh and myabe we could be with some of the boys?
  6. If you were telling a student who was new to upper school about tefilah, and trying to get him/her excited about it, what would you share? I would share how there is just not one way of praying and how there are fun ways to learn and pray in Teffilah. Here we do rosh Chodesh which is where we get togethr with some of our classmates and share about whats going on in our lifes and opnions on things. Also how we do fun games related to Teffilah and how we have electives such as Glee Club(where you sing),meditation, god talk, and other fun things like that!
  7. What other thoughts or ideas do you want to share about your tefilah experience this year? overall I had a relly great and fun year in Teffilah and I got to meet and talk to new people!

City Hall Expierence

Here Is My Reflection:

Today I’m going to share my experience at the City Hall that I had and my experience of meeting our Mayor! The first thing we did was go on coach buses which we were really fortunate to do! Inside the coach bus were unique designs and comfortable chairs and huge windows with a beautiful view outside. Finally when we got to the City Hall we were welcomed by the community which was quite nice. There was lots of chattering until finally a few people spoke about Yom Haatzmaut and its importance. While some representatives from the community were talking we all enjoyed a sandwich and some sites such as veggie straws and popcorn and some water. Then we got to hear the Mayor speak which was quite a unique opportunity. The Mayor said that he would make Yom Haatzmaut a national day in our city! When I heard that I got so excited and very proud of not only our Mayor but also our community and how much everyone cares about everyone. Then we got lucky and we had some cake in the Shape of Israel which was really cool and we played a fun Yom Haatzmaut game with the Shin Shins. For the game we had to first get into groups and we were combined with another school which was a great opportunity to meet new people. Then we had five challenges that we had to do that were about Israel! Out of about 20 groups I think my team and I got into 6th or 7th place! For prizes there were water bottles, bracelets, and more! Finally to top off this amazing day we got to go to the 3rd level out of eight levels in the City Hall! That might not seems like its really high up but trust me it was! Overall this was such a fun day with so many cool opportunities and I hope I can go to the City Hall again!

Tefillah Elective Reflection

Here is my Reflection for My Teffillah Elective:

Describe what you have been doing in your elective. I have been doing glee club for Teffillah which is where you sing Jewish Songs together as a group. My group specifically is focusing on Shabbat Songs that we will be singing at a Shabbat Service somewhere.

What has been the best or most meaningful part of this elective? Probably the most meaningful part would be that the songs that we are doing are so pretty and they just make you think a lot and wonder a lot about so many different things.

What is one thing you have learned in your Teffillah elective? I have learned a lot of new songs for Shabbat but not only have I learned the songs,I have also learned the meanings to the songs and also songs songs that I have known from before I have learned the meanings to!

What is one thing you would change or improve about your elective? If I were the teacher I would have maybe not let some people still be in glee who don’t want to sing or are not participating in glee club or who are talking and not being respectful.

What (related to your teffillah elective) do you still wonder about? I still wonder why and who came up with all these songs for Shabbat and also who came up will all the prayers and when did they and how did they. I think my teacher in my group already went over who wrote the song and maybe why but I forgot and maybe she could go over it again?!
