A: I learned that the jews in Algeria did not live nicely and they were eventually kicked out because they were jewish. I also learned that in Algeria we had to make our own clothing!

B: I think that the future of the Jews should look like, living like normal people, living in ALGERIA and, being treated how any other person would be treated.

Dissection Reflection

  • What is the value of dissecting?

The value of Dissecting is being able to look inside of fascinating creatures. It helps you learn to also be brave and not get grossed out by dead things.

  • How did the dissection help you understand what is happening between the sea lamprey and the trout?

It showed me that the sea Lamprey has lots of teeth and that’s how it chomps through anything in its way. Also on the external area looking at the overall shape and fins, it looks like it swims fast as well.

  • How did you feel about dissection? If you enjoyed the process, why did you enjoy it? If you did not enjoy it, what was difficult about it?
  • I really enjoyed the process! It made me less grossed out at dead things and I thought it was just fascinating! I was one of the first people to touch the Lamprey! I really enjoyed this and I hope we can do it again!

Teffilah Reflection 2018

Teffilah has been, well I’ll say a little difficult this year as well as all the other things 5th grade was put into anyway. Teffilah was difficult because this was a new way of doing Teffilah there were lots of different things that they made us do. Reflecting on the Monday activities would be that my first quarter was not very fun…AT ALL. The second one, Well I took my voice and put it into good use for the glee club which is what Gev. Kleiman was begging me to do. So I joined the club and had a fantastic time!

  1. What were three of your favorite things we did in tefilah this year, and why? Glee club, Tefillah activities and The Scavenger hunt because all of those things were a lot of fun!
  2. What were two of your least favorite things we did in tefilah this year, and why? Sing Prayers, do NEW things and Prayers because all of thhose activities, most of the time, were REALLY boring.
  3. We will have tefilah on the calendar again next year.  What would you like to keep or continue in tefilah? I would like to keep the option of Not being ordered to sing, Drumming and Tefillah leaders.
  4. What would you like to have less of in tefillah? I would like to have less Quote: “Boringness”
  5. What would you like to add to tefilah? MORE ENTERTAINMENT
  6. If you were telling a student who was new to upper school about tefilah, and trying to get him/her excited about it, what would you share? That most of the time it isn’t all that fun and usually it’s boring and that you don’t have to sing if you don’t want to, but sometimes they have cool fun activities.
  7. What other thoughts or ideas do you want to share about your tefilah experience this year? I think it was difficult and that it will probably change next year… ONCE WERE 6TH GRADERS XD

Rube Goldberg 2-28-18

Today’s goal: By the end of class today my group will have designed the last step of our Rube Goldberg.

What went well  today?

The whole thing went well today! Everyone came up with amazing ideas! One of which was by me but Mostly from my other group members!

What was challenging?

It was challenging to find the correct materials needed and it was challenging figuring out what we were going to do for our end! But other than that… I had a lot of fun today! =)

What steps went into deciding  your final design?

The steps were simple: Draw out, Plan, Get checked, Get materials and then BUILD!

How many attempts did you try before finding success? If you did not find success, what do you think you need to try on Monday?

It took just about four attempts before we got something cool working but my Hypothesis was way worse and we did a lot better than my hypothesis.

What are the next steps for your group?

The next steps for my group is better materials (such as Dominoes) and More time!

Are there any additional materials your group needs to gather?

Yes. A LOT! One of which is real dominoes.

Egyptian Gods

What is the largest difference between Ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and our beliefs as Jews?

I think the largest difference is that we only believe in one God but the Egyptians believe in many. I think that another big difference is that our one God does everything but the Egyptians many Gods Do a whole bunch of things and they are all the protector or God of something EX: Anubis, the Jackal headed man is the God of Embalming and Mummification processes.

Which G-D did you find most fascinating?

I think the most fascinating one was: “Anubis”. I think Anubis was the most Fascinating because he is the one who watches over the dead, helps mummify someone, guide people through the afterlife and so many more! Anubis is really cool because of those reasons but he’s also really cool because he’s basically a normal human but with a Jackal head! Anubis is Fascinating!

What is one thing you are wondering about Ancient Egyptian religion?

One thing I’m now wondering is: Was there a God who controlled the weather because I know that Egypt is in the desert but Egypt could have possibly had weather and so, did the Egyptians believe in a God who controlled the weather? If so, Who?

My One Word Goal: Best

One thing I can do this week to help me stick to my goal: Always give my best and take my time and look back over my tests or work to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes.

One thing my teachers can do this week to help me stick to my goal: The teachers can help remind me to look back over my work and give it my best so that I can get a better grade.

One thing my friends can do this week to help me stick to my goal: Nothing really because this goal is a very independent goal.

One thing my family at home can do this week to help me stick to my goal: My Mom or Dad can check over my homework and make sure that it is correct so that I can go to school the next day and feel good about handing in my homework.

Why do you think learning coding is important to your future?

https://code.org/quotes

I think that this article is very true because these are all very important computer people in the world and they all say that coding is very important for our future and will create a bright future.

Wonders

I wonder how complex the people like microsoft and sony and all those companys have to code for their systems and consoles?

I wonder how those companys would even understand that “language” of coding?

Connections

I think that I connected with the fact that everyone thought coding would be helpful for kids who want to work for companys like microsoft.

What more whould you like to do with coding?

So there is this cool gaming platform called game maker. Game maker is like the more complex version of scratch, but some of my friends say it’s a lot easier. I do know that most of the hit computer games that go on steam (a gaming platform) are made with this software. But I was thinking maybe we could allow that to happen in this school. I think it’s a really cool software and I would really like to try coding like the pros. Thanks for reading this long paragraph!
