Explorers Reflection

What about this project went well for you? Explain. I think that I did really good because people were laughing a little bit and they told me that I did really good and that they gave me all 4’s.

What about this project did not go well for you? Explain. I was a little embarrassed because I thought that my drawings were really bad and that my animation would glitch or something like that.

How can you create a better project next time? I shouldn’t take so much time picking out the explorer that I want to do, and ask for help when I need it.

How did you think the planning process went? Were you able to find all the information you needed? At the beginning I had a little trouble finding information, but later I got better at finding the info because I understood it a little better.

What could Adon Kaufman and Gev. Noorlander do differently next time? Nothing.

What impact did explorers make? They found and claimed places.

Rapunzel Planning Reflection

How did spending more time on planning improve your final blueprint? It improved it because I could take my time so I didn’t have to rush and now when I do the real thing I look back on the project and I can do nearly whatever I wrote in the blueprints.

How did your group come to one final plan after brainstorming several ideas? I worked alone.

Why do you think taking more time to plan was important? Because I could take my time so I didn’t have to rush and now when I do the real thing I look back on the project and I can do nearly whatever I wrote in the blueprints.

Did brainstorming with multiple people help you come up with more ideas? How? I wasn’t in a group.

What would you differently during the planning process next time? Focus a little better.

Text-Tuesday

“In a place where there are no people, try to be a person, Pirkei Avot.”

I think that this quote means: “Don’t try to fit in if there’s nobody like you, Just be yourself.”

I think that I can apply this text to my one life by: Not trying to fit in, and to just be myself, and shine in my one way.

“In a place where there are no people, try to be a person, Pirkei Avot.”

Reflecting On E.T.C.

How have you changed as a group member this year in ETC? I think that I have, because we have been working in groups since the beginning of the school year which I think gave me a lot of practice in working in groups and in most of the blog posts that we have been doing (Partly including this one), we have some questions on how we can improve, and what our goal is, which I think that it helps me think about that.

How has working in ETC made you a better student in other classes? (Social Studies, E.L.A., Jewish Studies, Hebrew, Math, Science) I think that it helps in our other classes because in most (Maybe even all of them), we work in groups a lot.

Thinking about my blog posts, I have improved by talking about the Blog Post rubrics, our teachers making checklists and reviewing them, and dong so many Blog Posts which is a lot of practice and practice makes you get better and better.

In the future, I plan to improve my blog posts by looking at the Blog post rubric and checklist and make sure I include and do all of those things on the checklist and rubric.

Native American Experience

Some Native Americans do not like the term Native American. Explain why they reject this name: They rejected it because some of them might not be American.

One person in the BBC Video said that living in poverty does not mean they are poor. What do you think he meant by that? Maybe because some of them feel like they are being kept in a prison. Or maybe some of them always feel mad for maybe even no reason.

Some Native Americans approve of the team name Redskins. What is their reason for approving this name while others do not? Maybe they approve because they think it sounds cool, or maybe they don’t follow football.

In the CNN segment, there was a story told about a woman who used to approve of the name Redskins, and now does not. What changed? Why does she no longer approve of the name? At 1st, she didn’t know that it was Raciest and Stereotypical, then when she found out, she instantly changed her mind.

How can non-Native people help others learn about Native Americans current issues? What can we do to help? Maybe we can donate them money.

Revisiting My Puzzle Piece

Here is a photo of my groups puzzle piece:

In August, I thought the following about myself as a learner: I thought that I was a pretty good learner if I had some quit music or some people talking quietly because I thought that it would help me focus better.

Today, I would add the following to my puzzle piece:  I would add that music doesn’t help me.

Today, I would tweak or modify my puzzle piece by….because… Now, I think that music wouldn’t help me, even is it’s super quiet, because I really enjoy music, so I would be focusing on the music and not the work. I also think that I would work better if their wasn’t a lot of pictures and stuff around me because then I would have terrible focus because I would be focusing on the pictures and not the work.

I think I’ve already grown this year as a learner by Forcing myself to focus by fidgeting quietly with something or with with just my hands.

Thinking about working in teams in ETC, my classmates can best support my learning needs by…. being quiet during the work time.

Columbus Debate Reflection

Explain how your group worked together before the debate (during research). Did you work well together? We kind of worked well with our teamwork, but we mostly only got facts about Columbus and not a bunch of good things that he did.

Explain how your group worked together during the debate. Did you work well together? Not really, because, we weren’t really prepared because we only had facts, so we had to make up some of our stuff, and during our time to discuss what we were gonna say in between our debate with the other group, we were arguing.

What can you do differently next time? Why will this help you and your group improve? If they don’t remember to add in good or bad things about whoever we are doing the debate on. I can try to remember to remind them.

Explain how this debate influenced your opinion on Columbus. Looking and listening to my partners during the debate, and listing to the other team during the debate, I learned a lot of good and bad things about Christopher Columbus.

Tefilah Questions

  1. What were three of your favorite things we did in tefilah this year, and why? If me and the new student both liked a lot of the new things that we shared that were about other classes, then I would probably try to get him/her exited about the things that I liked, which is going outside or staying inside and playing games.
