Scientific Explanation First Piece

The young salmon is the only omnivore on the river food web. I know from the image that the young salmon eats algae and sculpin which are both plant and animal. This supports my claim because omnivores eat both plants and animals, which the young salmon eats both, so that makes the young salmon an omnivore.

Minecraft Breakout Refection

  • What was your “aha” moment during this challenge? How did this impact finishing the challenge?

My aha moment was when I realized I had to search for mining in the search bar

  • How did this challenge compare to the other two we have completed?

It was harder but it wasn’t too hard that we were about to quit but it made your brain think hard

  • What was the most challenging aspect of this challenge?

I thought the 8 letter word lock was hard because it was the most confusing to find and finish.

  • What two strategies helped you and your team the most when completing the challenge? (Use the strategy sheet for this! If you used a different strategy, list it here as well)

I think that I helped my team with finding the 8 letter word lock and I helped with solving math equations.

Primary Source Refection

How did the experiences of slaves first hand compared to what we have read about in the past? Were our secondary sources accurate to the slave experience? Explain.

The Comparison is that the Primary sources were less described than the Secondary on how hard it was and how painful it was.

What was one new thing you learned from reading these stories?

I learned from a slave’s perspective of how hard life was back then.

Did reading these stories from slaves change your perspective? How so?

Yes because reading what life was like for slaves is so different than what people go through life today.

How do you think that the stories of slaves relate to our essential question of “Why do people move?”?

I think it relates because when slaves were sold they would move to different places even if they didn’t want to.

Why did slaves move? Be specific in your answer.

they moved because if their master didn’t want them they would sell them in an auction and then the slave would move to a different master’s household.

Silly Shamrock Refection

  • What did you notice or observe during this challenge?

I observed that you have to look at the pictures very closely and you have to think where the puzzles start

  • What kind of questions did you ask yourself (meta)?

I asked for an example, I asked for the problem that said St. Patrick’s Day Month, I asked what month is that? Then we had to literally look outside the box to find the answer.

  • How did the time limit impact your ability to solve this breakout session?

It made it very hard and stressful to finish because if the timer ran out then we would have lost

  • What were your biggest connections when solving this challenge?

I saw that the St. Patrick’s day month was March so I said that and it was right.

  • What was the most challenging aspect of this challenge?

The most challenging thing was the timer because it made it so much more stressful.

  • What two strategies helped you and your team the most when completing the challenge?

The first strategy was writing stuff down so we could see what the combination could be. Second, we used MEDA to think about what we were thinking about.

JSL Reflection

  • What did you learn about leadership from the Jewish Supreme Leader (JSL) election project?

I learned that so many people I didn’t think had leadership qualities ended out having those qualities.

  • Through the stories of the leaders we studied, what are some positive ideas the Torah teaches us about leadership?

  • What are some negative ideas the Torah teaches us about leadership?

Some negative ideas the Torah teaches me is that there are some people who are such good leaders that did stuff badly.

  • If you could create the ideal JSL, what would that person be like their qualities, their personal story, their weaknesses? Why?

They could grab crowds attention, very strong, and able to talk to god.

  • How do you think leadership has changed from Torah times to modern times?  How is it still similar?

Leadership has basically shaped the Torah.

  • How does the JSL election change the way you think about leadership?  Why?

It has changed the way I think of leadership because  I thought that leadership was actually leading but it is so much more.
