Basketball Unit Reflection

Now that our basketball unit is finished it is time for us to reflect on our growth during the unit.  Please answer the following two questions by replying to this post on my blog.  Make sure to use complete sentences, capitalization, and the correct punctuation.  Also your answers must be two to three sentences not just one sentence.  I am looking to see some depth and thinking in your answers.  The following are the two questions:

  1. Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
  2. Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill?  If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved?  If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?

Football Unit Reflection

We have just completed our first unit on Football.  I want you to reflect on the unit by answering the two following questions in 3-5 sentences.  Please make sure to use complete sentences with proper punctuation and spelling.

  1. How did I feel about football before the unit started? Please provide reasons why you felt that way.
  2. Now that the unit is over, how do I feel about football now?  Please provide reasons why you feel this way.

Then, comment on at least TWO posts in this thread.  When you comment try to keep the conversation going by asking a question or saying something that makes others want to respond to you.

Gym Uniform Reminder

Now that every upper school student has a gym uniform it is very important that they come to school with their gym uniforms on Tuesday and Thursday.  As a reminder part of their grade is based on if they come to gym class dressed in full uniform.  Each student gets one free pass per quarter.  Full uniform does mean they must have both the MJDS gym shirt and gym shorts.  Thank you for your help with ensuring each student comes prepared for gym class with there uniform on.

Football is going Strong

All the upper school PE classes are fully engaged in our football unit.  I have been very pleased with the level of effort and participation I have seen from all the children so far.  Please feel free to ask your child a question about football as they are learning the positions and terms that are part of the game.  Below are some pictures of the children scrimmaging against each other, using the skills we worked on in drills in an actual game.

Welcome to Adon Brugmans Team

I am so excited about my new role this school year.  I am wearing many different hats this school year.  I will be teaching upper school physical education, continuing my role as athletic director, and helping upper school students as a student coach.  I will be using this blog as another avenue to communicate with families and students about what is going on in my classes and with MJDS athletics.  There are three links to other pages on the top of my home page.  The My PE class link will contain important dates/reminders concerning PE class, tutorials about sports we are learning about in class, links to healthy living tips, links to family exercises, and a list of healthy snacks.  The MJDS athletics link will contain links to the sports offered at MJDS with a calendar for each sport that will have important dates and schedules.  The Resources for the Mind link will contain study tips, links to websites that exercise the mind, and other important information that will help students and families with academics.  I look forward to working with families and students this school year to help make their experience at MJDS the best and most successful it can be.
