Now that our basketball unit is finished it is time for us to reflect on our growth during the unit. Please answer the following two questions by replying to this post on my blog. Make sure to use complete sentences, capitalization, and the correct punctuation. Also your answers must be two to three sentences not just one sentence. I am looking to see some depth and thinking in your answers. The following are the two questions:
- Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
- Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
1. I have played basketball before so I knew some of the rules and how to dribble and shoot a little. I really wanted to learn how to make a basket on a consistent basis. I have made shots before but I miss more shots then I make so improving on my ability to make more shots was really important to me.
2. By the end of the unit I felt like I did improve on my ability to make more shots. In the drills we did in class I always was given the opportunity to take a lot of shots and in the scrimmages I also got to take a lot of shots. By taking a lot of shots over and over again I got better and wound up making more shots then I missed by the end of the unit.
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit?
I had never played a basketball game with any of the extra rules( like travels, jump balls, etc,). And I just wanted to understand everything so I didn’t mess up super badly in front of the boys. Not that I need their approval, but some of them are really rude when you do bad.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
Yes. I understand everything we learned in class and now play basketball with my friends. I’m still not that good and mess up badly when I’m scared, but I’m better than I was before.
Shira I am glad to hear that you are less scared to play basketball and it makes me very happy to see you play basketball with your friends after lunch, you look like you are having a lot of fun.
I think that you got better at playing basketball and I like playing with you.
I still don’t know what a jump ball really is, do you?
You dod’t have to worry about things you do. They do that to everybody.
Did you have any basketball skills before the unit? Like, could you make a three-pointer or not? Did you like basketball?
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
I wanted to work on my dribbling and actually learn the rules of basketball. Before this unit, I had no idea how to play basketball.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
Yes. I learned how to actually play basketball. I think I was able to pick it up quickly was that I had an open mind entering gym class.
I can connect with you about the part of wanting to learn the rules of basketball. Do you think you could apply your open mind to other subjects in gym?
I wanted to work on my lay ups. I also want to work on not getting to worked up about basketball.
Yes, I think I did not get worked up or yell at my teammates. It felt good for me not to yell at my teammates. I complimented more than I yelled.
How did you do on layups?
ygaines I understand you did not yell.
I think your’s is good. But why did you yell at your teammates?
Tbh I think you did yell more at the beginning but more towards the end, you got a lot better and I think you did really well at achieving your goal.
Before I was sort of familiar with basketball, I played it a bit a year before and I wasn’t very good. I wanted to learn how to dribble down court and also make shots
Now I can dribble down the court with relative ease now and I am on the basketball and I can also make hoops with relative ease.
What did you do to get better at dribbling and shots?
Why are you on the basketball?
How do you think you got better at making shots and dribbling down the court? Was it from drills or practice or being on the basketball team?
I agree I can also make shots and dribble better now!
1. I wanted to improve on going to my left.
2. No, because mostly everyone has never played basketball before and it was hard for me to improve on going to my left because people were standing and talking so when I got to the basket and couldn’t do anything I had no choice but to shoot it because they were just standing around.
cool
What do you mean, going to your left?
You wanted to “improve on your left”? Where? When? How? What thing “going on your left” do you want to improve on?
I like how you were detailed with your second answer. You explained your second answer well.
1.Before we started the basketball unit, I knew how to throw a ball and get it in the hoop once in a while. I hated basketball and didn’t want to learn about anything about basketball.
2.I feel I definitely learned something new. I learned how to play defense and got pretty good at it. Shooting the ball didn’t change, I didn’t get any better. I learned how to actually play basketball!
Do you like basketball any better now?
Why didn’t you want to learn about anything in basketball?
I agree with you on the 1 question.
Is there a reason you hated basketball?
Shira I glad you learned how to play basketball just like me.
I like how you knew you were not the best in it and now you feel confident about it which is really cool.
1. I wanted to work on my passing. My passing is already pretty good but the harder part was passing to people who wouldn’t always catch the ball. It really tested my skills to have to put it in the exact right spot for them to catch.
2. I think I did improve a little on my passing. The scrimmages was the main reason for that. How I did that was always looking for the open man (or woman) to pass to.
Do you think you are more willing to pass the ball to people who may not be as good than you were before?
1)The first skill I wanted to work on was keeping my head up while I dribble. The second skill I worked on was to pass to people if I cant get to the hoop easily.
2) Yes, because I used to know nothing about basketball and just play it for fun and now I know a lot more. Also, The skills that I wanted to work on I fell like they improved.
Did you end up being able to dribble with your head up and pass to people? If so how did you achieve this? I think you improved a lot during this unit.
You said And now I know a lot more can you be more specific about what you know now.
How did you keep your head up?
I liked how you kept trying!
1. Before we started this unit I sort of knew how to play. Two things I wanted to get better at were shooting and my defense.
2. I got better at my defense but not that much better at shooting. I think I got better at my defense because during the scrimmages I practiced. I didn’t get better at shooting because when we did shooting drills they were always team based not single person based so my teammates always made the shots.
I agree with your post totally I think you got really really well at your defense also.
Before we started basketball I didn’t really know how to play. I could my a couple shots in a game but nothing much. I wanted to learn how to hold the ball.
Yes! My friends taught me how to hold the ball better!! We also worked on it in drills.
What else did you learn to do?
Do you think that playing a game in class helped improve your understanding of basketball?
1. I wanted to improve on screening. 2. I did not learn a lot in this unit because we did not work on the skill that I wanted to improve on.
Explain more about how you wanted to improve on screening. What about screening.
Are you sure you did not learn anything, even though we did not work on the things you wanted too, doesn’t mean you didn’t learn anything.
We didn’t work on screening but you did really will on the games we played in gym and i girls basketball.
What skill(s) did you want to improve on? During the game, not a lot of people screened. I see your point. Some of the students didn’t know how to play.
1 I wanted to work on getting more of my long distance shoots in the hoop. I also wanted to work on defense and getting more aggressive.
2 Yes I think that I got a lot better at the skills listed above because I worked harder during the drills and I also watched other kids play while I was subbing out.
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
I wanted to work on my offense because I felt like my defense was pretty good but my offense was REALLY bad. I also wanted to learn what a jump-ball was because when I was on the girl’s basketball team and they said jump-ball and I did not know what they were saying. I also wanted to learn how you would get a
free-throw.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved?
If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve? I did learn all these three things because I kind of knew what they were but not really so now I know how to do more things in basketball. I think I learned these things because my teamates were really nice and helped me to understand and so did my gym teacher. I think I also learned more about all these three things by just watching the game and also playing the game.
Great! But what do you mean by “I knew what they were but not really?” And you’re really good at basketball!
I like playing basketball with you and I think that your good at it.
I don’t know what a jump ball is, and have you found out what it is yet?
I really like how you thank your teammates for helping you understand the sport.
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? I want to get better at posting up. But nobody knew how pass it correctly and even see me.
Also I wanted to be able to score a lot of points which happened.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve? I did not improve because nobody knew what to do at all. It was basically 1 on 5 I had to guard Eli plus every body else.
aodesky don’t blame everything on us.
When no one was getting back on defense was that because they didn’t know how to or they were just too lazy? Could you have given them some encouragement to get them to play harder?
1. I wanted to know how to play basketball better because I already knew how to play and I was tall but I was really bad
2. Yes, I think I improved I also learned how to have a better sportsmanship because when I get mad in a basketball game it’s not pretty.
But you did really well in girls basketball.
You have to have more sportsmanship.
How did you improve? Did you practice or was it from drills or being on the team?
What do you mean “play basketball “better.”” That is not specific!
Why did you get mad in basketball?
Yes, I agree that you gave better sportsman ship. I also had to work on that!!
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? I wanted to learn all the initial rules of the game and improve on throwing the ball to someone far away and do it right.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve? NO Because I did not get the chance as much as others so I could not do the things I said in Question 1.
I played basketball before we started the unit but I could never make a shot every time. same with layups, before I would always just stop and shoot.
YES, I have gotten better at layups. I think I got better at this because I had to do this so many times in the scrimmages.
Did you get better out layups only or layups and shoot in general.
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific) I really wanted to improve on my shooting because normally when I try to shoot a three pointer, I normally miss the shot.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve? Yes, I think I improved on shooting because we practiced shooting in gym. So now when I shoot, I normally make the shot.
1, Before basketball I did not know a lot. I wanted to get better at shooting because I am not good at making shots. I also wanted to learn how to do a layup because I had no clue what layup was at first.
2. Yes, I learned how and what a layup was. Also shooting now I am able to make more shots then I used to. I also learned that when I shoot I should try to make by using my senses than just throwing it to the hoop.
Do you think that you would need more time to get better?
1. I wanted to learn how to shoot a basket because I could not play or understand basketball before this unit. I hated basketball before this unit.
2. Yes, I learned how basketball works. I think I learned how basketball works because Adon Brugman explained it.
Did you learn how to shoot? If so how did you achieve this ability? Do you like basket ball more now after you finished this unit?
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
I wanted to get better at basketball, and play a real game of basketball. I don’t think I knew what a double dribble was a the start of the unit.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
Yes, I think I got better at dribbling and now I know what a double dribble is. I also learned to play an actual game of basketball.
Great! Was a double dribble the only thing you didn’t know?
Before we started basketball I wanted to use my left hand more than my right hand. so I could dribble and drive up the court with my left hand. I also wanted to make more shots than I used to
practiced that during the drills and the scrimmage.
I am know using my left hand a little bit more but I always can practice more on my left hand and my shooting with my shooting I am better at it and now I can shoot farther away from the basket then I used to.
you are better at your left hand. But I can still get 73 on you in a 1 on 1
I couldn’t shoot a basket, and that is what I wanted to learn.
I learned how to shoot a basket, and I actually made a basket.
1. I wanted to get better at shooting because I knew how to dribble, play defence, and pass pretty well, and I knew how to shoot (form), but I wasn’t able to make a good percentage of my shot’s. I also wanted to get better at ball handling. As I said, I could dribble pretty well, but I couldn’t do very fancy moves when I was dribbling the ball like juking someone out.
2. I think I improved both my shooting and ball handling. I think I improved on my shooting because I worked really hard. I think I improved on my ball handling because I worked really hard, too.
Do you think you needed more time to improve that skill?
1) Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific) Getting better at shooting. I was in girls basketball so I Know a lot about basketball but I was not good at shooting.
2) Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve? Yes. Catch the ball. Because in girls basketball I was bad at catching the ball or it will fall out my hand or I will catch it.
I think it is great that you admit that even though you were in Girl’s Basketball you still learned a lot.
Before we started basketball, I barely new how to dribble! I do NOT like basketball. after the unit I still don’t like it! I just don’t like the idea of it! There are two things I needed to learn to get better at. 1. I needed to get better at taking my time to get in close and get the shot. 2. I need to work on passing the ball more often. I think this unit wasn’t the greatest because a lot of people thought that we were basically playing in the NBA! They didn’t understand that we were just trying to have fun!
Let me start with the positive, Yes! I did learn stuff! I learned a lot about how it’s like to be in the NBA thanks to a few people. But I learned all about dribbling and getting good at the game. Alright! You got the positive! Now… The NEGATIVE. Let’s start with this. I tried my hardest to have fun! But a lot of people treated this game to seriously! I was waiting on the side for like 5 minutes just for the other boys to stop arguing about one foul.
that’s my opinion.
I agree with you 100%. People definitely treated the game way too seriously. That said, did you ever have fun at all? Were there any moments where people were actually treating basketball like a game?
you could also work on receiving the pass.
1. I wanted to get better at defense and shooting. I wasn’t that good at either of them at the beginning of the unit.
2. I think I got better at defense. I think I got a little better at shooting. I think this is true because we did a lot of dribbling and passing drills, and not that many shooting or defense drills.
1. I really wanted to work on using my left hand. I play basketball, but when I do I use my right hand. I wanted to be able to use both.
2. By the end of the unit, I was able to use my left hand to shoot and dribble. This is because we used our left hand in alot of drills we did.
Do you feel like you are good with both hands now?
I had almost the same experience. I just practiced on my dribbling more
I know how to play basketball very well but I want to learn how to shoot more than missing the shot.
At the end of the unit, I felt like I did a little more shots then missing them.
It is good that you improved.
1. Before this unit started I was bad at basketball and I didn’t really want to learn any skills. I’ve improved on dribbling a lot.
2. Yes. I improved on dribbling because we did a lot of dribbling drills.
Did you improve on anything else?
1.Before we started the basketball unit I knew the rules, how to shoot, and dribble. Although I knew how to shoot I wanted to get better at shooting. Also, I would want to practice my handles because I would lose the ball if I dribbled before.
2. After the unit, I did get better at my shot and handles. I would lose the ball less and make more shots which were good.
I did not learn a lot but I did defiantly brush up on my skills. I felt that the practice was good but we could have done more games like lightning or 10 seconds or something like that.
I don’t think that I learned something new, but I did practice and that is also good.
1:My family has these REALLY good Buck seats, we go pretty often, so I know lots of the rules. I wanted to get better at shooting baskets.
2:I got really good at defense, and not on purpose. I like to get the ball even though I travel a lot, and miss my shots. But I still like to play.
Before basketball I knew the rules and how the game works but I really needed to work on shooting. Also I wanted learn how to do very good on defense.
After basketball I really could make baskets and if I did it was more luck than skill. Also I felt that I was doing very good at defense by being able to stealing and running to the other side.
I agree you did really good at shooting the ball and defense, Logan
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
I wanted to learn how to be better at basketball and I wanted to learn some of the basic rules.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
I feel like I learned how to play basketball but I didn’t learn the basic skills. I don’t know why.
do you want to still?
I think you did really good at shooting the ball and you were good at defense, Leah
1) When we started I wanted to learn how to play the game because I didn’t know how the game worked at all. I also wanted to improve on shooting baskets.
2) Now I know how to play the game because we played many games. I also improved my shooting ability.
You are good at basketball Sid. I think you improved.
You are good at basketball Sid. I think you improved a lot.
I have played basketball before so I knew everything that we learned. I was working on playing better, like with shooting and dribbling.
I think I have gotten better at basketball because I have gotten extra practice. getting extra practice helped me get better at playing games.
1. Before I started the unit, I really wanted to work on free throws and fast breaks. I really wanted to work on free throws because my accuracy is really bad and I might need to improve in the future. I really wanted to learn fast breaks because I haven’t ever learned that and it looks fun.
2. By the end of the unit, I feel I didn’t learn any of that. I feel that because we didn’t do free throws and there wasn’t a need for fast breaks.
Why didn’t you ask Adon Bruggman that you want to practice free throws?
1)Before we started the basketball unit, the two skills that I wanted to work on were dribbling and shooting. I already knew how to do both of those things but I knew that I could definitely improve.
2) Looking at my answer to question number one, I do feel like I improved on dribbling and shooting. I was focused during drills and games. Right now, I can definitely say that I am better at both of those skills than I was before we started the basketball unit.
I think it’s really cool that you felt like you improved on your basketball. I felt like I wanted to learn those same skills too.
Before the unit, I didn’t know how to guard I only knew how to shoot. Yes. I learned how to guard and I also learned how to shoot better.
1) One skill that I really wanted to learn by the end of the unit was learning some basic rules of basketball. I have always been interested in learning the rules because I really like watching basketball, but I never completely understood every component in the game. Another skill that I really wanted to learn was shooting. I have never been really good at making shots and felt that was something that I could improve.
2) By the end of the unit, I felt like I learned all of the rules of basketball and really understood the game. I also felt like I improved on shooting baskets and have a better aim and strength when shooting.
I agree with you about having a better understanding about the game. Basketball makes much more sense to me now.
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
1. In the beginning of the unit ( as you know) I was really really really bad at basketball. I could barely do anything. In the beginning I wanted to improve on making a basket.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer\ is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
2. At the end of the unit I was still really bad but I was better than before. Now I can make a basket (almost). Plus I can defend a lot better.
I really like that you felt like you improved but I definitely do not think that you are bad. I agree with you that you are really good at defense.
Before I wanted to learn how to do a proper layup and get better at dribbling. I wanted to get better at these things because I thought they were very important in basketball all around because you need to know how to dribble and sometimes do a layup.
I think I improved my dribbling a lot. One reason is that we did a lot of dribbling drills which I liked and I felt like doing those over and over really helped my dribbling.
1) Before we started basketball what were one or two skills, or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific) One thing I wanted to work on was to practice my dribbling and layups.
2) Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve? I do feel that I improved on both skills because in the scrimmages I could both dribble and shoot layups a lot.
1. I love playing basketball and I know pretty much all the rules and I am pretty good at dribbling and shooting. I wanted to get better at shooting and dribbling.
2. I don’t think my shooting or dribbling became any better. I think it was because other people were learning the sport and so it was spent a lot of the time to basic things to help those people out. I did not have that much time to shoot. There were a lot of things with dribbling but they were basic and didn’t help me.
I like how you were really detailed in your explanations.
Did you think the unit was bad?
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific) I wanted to work on dribbling and shooting before we started the unit.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve? I think I improved my dribbling in the way that I can dribble and run faster now. I also improved my shooting because now I can make shots a bit more, but I still don’t make many shots.
What did you learn? How did you improve your shooting? Did Adon. Brugman give you tips?
Some skills that I wanted to work on during the unit was shooting because I was really bad at shooting and now at the end of the unit I am just bad.
I think I’m a little bit better at shooting than I was before the beginning of the unit because I played more basketball during the unit then I do normally (a lot).
In what ways did you improve
1. I wanted to be better at dribbling. I think I was not that good at dribbling. I think I improved a little.
2. I don’t think I learned anything because I already play basketball. I already knew how to dribble I just had to practice more.
same with the second comment because we are already pretty good lel.
Before we started basketball what were one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit? (Be specific)
I wanted to improve my knowledge on the rules of basketball and how to play a game. I also wanted to improve my shooting.
Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
Yes, I think I now have a better understanding of how to play basketball and the rules. I also have become better at shooting. I think I improved by playing games and continuing to practice my shooting during gyms.
Before I started basketball, I wanted to improve on my shot consistency. I also wanted to improve on my understanding of basketball, I have never played basketball before and wanted to be on the team. It was important to me that I knew what I was doing when I played. Unfortunately during the games I sometimes didn’t know what I was doing but oh well.
I feel like a improved my getting more of an understanding for the game. This was very helpful because now if I go to a basketball I am much more excited because I understand what is going on and the rules. I think I learned this because I had motivation to gain knowledge otherwise I would embarrass myself at the actual games.
I think I also understand allll of the rules now just like you!
Did this unit make you want to play more? Is it better than tennis?
I totally agree with you, I wanted to improve my shot also!
Watching some of the girls basketball games, I totally agree that your understanding has improved. At the first game, you were a bit clueless, but when we played during gym you knew exactly where you needed to be.
Do you think being on the basketball team helped you?
1. Before we started basketball what was one to two skills or things you wanted to work on, improve on, or learn by the end of the unit?
a: I wanted to learn how to play the game because before basketball started the only things I knew how to do were play horse and how to dribble the ball.
2. Looking at your answer to question number one, do you feel like you learned something new or improved on a skill? If your answer is yes, why do you think you learned something new or improved? If your answer is no, why do you think you did not learn something new or improve?
a: Yes I learned how to play the game and I think I learned this well through scrimmaging with the others that know how to play.
I can agree with you about not knowing the rules of the game. Do you think scrimmaging is a good way to learn a new skill or doing drills?
I like how you admit to not knowing much about basketball.
Did you enjoy playing? What was the most challenging aspect of the basketball unit?
Before we started basketball I guess I wanted to improve on my consistency for shooting baskets. I didn’t (and still don’t) care about my basket shooting abilities all that much, but it would be nice to make at least 50% of baskets.
I think my consistency improved a little just by shooting once or twice a class, but I don’t think I improved that much. I was able to make one basket a game, which is great for me, though.
The same thing happened to me. I was really bad at the beginning and now I am okay at it. Plus when I made a basket it was also really good for me.
I think its good that you improved even though it was just a little bit.
One skill I wanted to improve was shooting. Another skill I wanted to get better at was being less aggressive. I am a very aggressive basketball player and wanted to foul less. I think that during this unit, I have gotten better at shooting. I think that this is because of the drills and games we played in class. I also got less aggressive.
Ari I like that you were self aware enough to realize you need to work on being less aggressive. I noticed that in your answer to question number 2 you said you did get less aggressive, how do you think you accomplished that goal?
I like that yo admit your faults and strive to improve on them.
I couldn’t agree more. Self-awareness is so important, no matter the setting.
1. A few skills I really wanted to get consistent with practicing and playing. Another skill I wanted to focus on was being able to be more confident and more consistent with making shots and taking the shot.
2. Yes I feel like I really improved at convincing myself to play more and be more confident against full teams. I also feel like I improved on being down while playing when I make a mistake.
I aslo wanted to be more confident in my shots and my game when I play basketball
I agree with you when you say that you improved on not being so down when you make a mistake.
You were already pretty good before the unit started.
I am empathetic about your perspective. I love to play yet easily lose confidence when I miss an easy shot or two. How do you maintain your confidence, regardless of how you play?
Before we started the Basketball unit, two skills I wanted to improve on were, shooting and guarding. I knew how to shoot baskets, but I wanted to get the hang of my shots and being more precise. I wasn’t really skilled at guarding, so I wanted to work on my guarding and blocking technique.
By the end of the unit, I think I improved the skills I wanted to achieve. This is because we did so much work in class and multiple games consisting of shooting baskets, and a game of b-ball which helped me practice guarding my peers.
Thats a really good goal to focus on!!!!
Do you think you improved your shooting or guarding better?
I think I improved on my basket making abilities. I also took more chances when I was playing even if I did not make all of my shots. I also felt like the running and shooting warm ups helped me improve when I was playing.
Were you able to do anything basketball related before the unit? If so, what could you do?
I think that it is good to take risks, but don’t be too risky. : )
I also feel the same way as you did with taking more chances buddy.
When you said the running and shooting helped, what do you mean when you say running? Just running, or running while dribbling?
I like how you are truthful about what you did.
I think that taking risks/chances are a good thing even if they don’t always turn out the way you want them to.
Did you learn anything?
I also thin I improved on my basket making abilities,
Great aide.
1. Something that was difficult was soccer skills. I don’t really play soccer so I’m not really good at it. Some specific skills I wanted to work on was scoring, dribbling, and passing. I think I did okay on defense.
2. One way I showed good sportsmanship by giving people high fives and clapping for them when they scored.
3. To continue having success in gym class I will continue showing good sportsmanship. I will also try my hardest in the drills and scrimmages. These things are all very important to succeed in gym class.
