Glee Club

You may have been at the Yom Hazikaron Ceremony, and heard the amazing glee club sing. The MJDS glee club was singing the song Shir Lashalom in memory of Yitzhak Rabin. When Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated he had the song Shir Lashalom in his pocket they found it covered in blood. Glee club is one of the four options offered to upper school students. Last year glee club was during lunch once a week. Gev.Kleiman who has been in many choirs before is the Glee club teacher.

This quarter’s main focus is a capella. The four main groups of a capella are Altos, Sopranos, Bass, and the Tenors. The bass group makes the noises that are like the instruments using their mouths and sing dum dum dum… in the song One Day. The tenor group sings low. There is also the altos which sings low but sing higher than the Tenors. Then there is the sopranos, this group sing the high part.. In glee club they divide into 4 separate rooms and practice their individual part and at the end of each class they share and each group gets to show the rest of the class their part. They have sang many songs like Shir Lashalom by Yaakov Rotblit  and One Day by Matisyahu. Gev. Kleinman said,”The challenging part is putting the group together and staying on rhythm.” Come see Glee Club at their next show.
