Deceleration of Independence Reflection

  1. All the rights were based off of all white men are treated equal. So in that time frame it only applied to white men so African Americans could be slaves and even white women.
  2. Being an American citizen means that even though we have these rights we  have to use them in a positive way. One example is freedom of speech, even though we have it there is still bullying. We have to be respectful of our rights.
  3. They expressed that we have these rights but we can’t us them for no reason. In the text it says” Long established governments should not be changed for light and transient reasons.”  This shows that we shouldn’t be careless with our rights.
  4. If the people don’t like they government they can changed or get rid of it. The foundation of the government should be laid down on principles and organization. The government should not be changed for stupid reasons.

  1. I agree with what you said about how we have to use our rights in a positive way. A lot of people abuse their rights and don’t use them for the reason they were intended.

  2. I agree with using these rights positively because if we don’t then America will be a mess due to people disrespecting the laws.

  3. You say an American citizen is someone who “use them [rights] in a positive way.” If I go around and insult people, that is my right. Who is to say that is not the positive way to use those rights? If I protest against you, isn’t that me using my rights? How are you determining what is the positive way and what is a negative way?
