plant observation in organic and inorganic material.

Title: Plant Observations in Organic and Inorganic Material

Categorize as Science

Throughout our science unit we have been focusing on organic and inorganic material. As an experiment, we decided to compare the growth of a bean seed in organic material vs inorganic material. We developed hypotheses and predicted what type of material our bean seeds would grow best in. Over the past three weeks we have observed our bean seeds once or twice a week to see how they are changing and growing. Below are my observations I noticed today.

Here is a picture of my bean seed growing in organic material:

Here is a picture of my bean seed growing in inorganic material:

My observations about my bean plant that is growing in organic material are……the plants are growing taller and a shade of darker green.

My observations about my bean plant that is growing in inorganic material are…..its not as tall and a litter green.

Conclusion: I think the plants grew better in the organic material because of these reasons:its taller, darker green, growing faster and has more sprouts.

  1. Interesting observations Levi! And I agree with you, the plans seem to thrive in organic material vs. Inorganic material. Nice writing!

  2. Great observations! I love how you gave specific shades of green when describing each plant so I am able to differentiate between the two plants. Next time, explain your observations further. For example, why do you think the plant in the organic material is a darker green? What is in the soil that makes it look healthier?
