Social Studies Timeline project

What did you think of your finished product? I thought I did well and I could see that I used a lot of time and effort to do it.

How did this challenge you? it was challenging to copy and paste the pictures to google docs and to print them and cut them out because I tried printing the pictures and it wouldn’t work and it wouldn’t let me copy and paste the pictures to google docs.

What was easy about this for you? It was easy to write neatly, and to draw the inches on the timeline

What are you most proud of from this process? I am proud of working hard and I am proud of finishing it on time.

zip lining

How did your mindset change throughout the day? At first I had a fixed mindset because i said I couldn’t do it but then my Friends cheered me on and I did it my friends cheering me on helped me go on the zip lines because if they weren’t I would feel super scared and I don’t think I would be able to do it.
How did you feel as others cheered you on? I felt good and proud that I actually did it because I am very scared of heights.
Was it what you expected? Yes- why? No- what was different? It was not what I expected I thought that there was only going to be one zip line and I thought it was going to be shorter.
Would you do it again? Why? Yes, because I thought it was fun challenging myself and facing my fears.

high holidays project brainstorm

My topic ( woman and the high holidays )

what do I know about my topic? on Rosh Hashana we eat apples and honey, we eat a lot of sweat foods to evoke a sweet new year, on Rosh Hashana we blow the shofar.

What are ten other questions I have that I need to research for a further study? How are woman connected to Rosh Hashana? Who are the woman that are mentioned in prayers/services? And which prayers? And why are they mentioned? What is the story for each of those woman? How is each story connected to high holidays? What are there names? Why are each of those woman significant to this day? What do we know about these woman? Why do we celebrate Rosh Hashana?

where will I begin to look for those answers? By researching on google

what help do I need to move forward in my project? Finding sources

etc challenge

What was challenging about these challenges? cleaning up all of the crumbs was challenging, and trying to make the ring out of Pringles challenging.
What was comfortable about these challenges? working together showing each other our plans and ideas.
How did you work in a team? we wrote plans then showed them to each other and then we all tried each plans to see which one worked the best.

Science this week

  • What was difficult about the challenges? It was difficult to pick up Fred off the boat because we couldn’t use our hands to pick him up, we had to use paper clips. It was also difficult putting Fred in the life preserver without him drowning.

  • What was comfortable about the challenges? Sharing our plans and notes to each other and having team work .

  • What is something you want to work on moving forward? Being more confident because I kept saying that it was impossible and that we couldn’t do it. But in the end we got ton save Fred

reflecting off my math project

what park did you make? I made a zoo, because I love animals and I thought it was the most interesting.

what were you proud of? I was proud of taking my time and if I take my time my project looks better and you get a good grade when you take your time.

what would you do differently?
I would name my zoo because I forgot to name my zoo.

what did you learn?
I learned about using area and perimeter and measuring buildings.

Editorial Reflection

1. the most important thing I learned about writing editorials is: persuading the readers and my counter argument.

2. one important thing I learned about researching a topic is: that you need evidence to support your topic.

3. what advice would you give writers who are trying to argue a point or persuade their readers
to think as they do? List at least two tips:

tell them to write a thesis statement.
tell them to write a counter argument

Reflecting on Student led conferences

How do you feel about your student-led conferences?
I felt good because I was comfortable talking with my parents in front of my teacher.

Have you thought about things you might be doing differently based upon student-led conference?
I might speak a little louder because I was a little quiet. In math I need to continue checking my work. In reading I want to work on writing longer reader’s responses.

Is there anything that you feel like you didn’t get to say at your student-led conference?
I forgot to ask them if they had any questions but thats it?

How does it feel to be in charge of a conference? Do you like it? why or why not?
It feels good to be in charge and I kind of like it because I get to talk about what things I have done well in and what things I have to work in school and I think its fun that the student gets to come with there parent.
