We had a great reading workshop lesson today where we discussed different fiction books. We talked about fantasy fiction vs. realistic fiction as well as the main features of fiction stories. These are characters, setting, problem and solution. These are things you can discuss with your child at home when reading too!

We visited the library for the first time today. In first grade the kids can check out two books each week. We will be visiting the library every Friday, so please make sure books are returned then.

We had our first reading workshop lesson, phonics lesson and writing project today. I’m so proud of this class, they were fantastic! First Day of School

Our first day was incredibly action packed. We had an all school assembly, participated in activity rotations with two other grade levels, started a couple projects in our classroom, played outside and did a scavenger hunt throughout the school. The kids will learn a lot more about our classroom, first grade and expectations tomorrow.
