Sukkah Reflection 8/30/18

    1. What is Habitat for Humanity’s mission/goal in Milwaukee?

Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to bring descent place to live for all the people in the world.

    1. Why is Habitat for Humanity’s mission and goal so important for the City of Milwaukee.

Habitat for Humanity’s mission is so important because in Milwaukee homes can be expensive to construct

    1. Why does purchasing used items have a more positive impact on our society and environment than purchasing every item new?

Buying items used makes it so that more of the item don’t have to be made. Making more of any item can make more pollution. Plus sometimes you can get things at a lower price when you buy it second hand.

  1. Please describe your experiences at ReStore yesterday.  Be sure to include sensory information such as smells, sights, sounds, sensations, and overall impressions.  Please include at least one photo from our experience at ReStore.

At ReStore there was a lot of broken/beat up items. But from what I saw the volunteers were very kind and ready to help. It was very fun to look at the stuff we needed because we had to measure the wood and window before we could buy anything.

  1. Please describe one item you were surprised about finding at Restore.  Why did this item stand out to you? If you purchased it, what are your hopes/desires for that item.  Please include at least one photo of that item.

At restore we found a red heart bathtub that was very funny to find because it was just sitting there among pieces of wood. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the bathtub.

  1. Please describe your connection to this Sukkah and the process we have taken on so far.  Do you feel connected? Do you feel ownership? What activities have we done that make you feel that way (making the models, organizing the calendar, physically purchasing the materials…)?

Enjoy feeling able to tell people that I helped build a sukkah in front of the school. when we were purchasing/looking for  the materials it was cool to have a say in what we purchased .

  1. What is one part of our trip yesterday you really cherish and felt was valuable?  Please describe in detail why this part of the trip was important to you.

One part of the trip that was important to me was when we were all  reporting to each other what we had found and what we could do with the item and then helping other teams. because it made it feel like we were all working together in one team to get one goal.

  1. What is one part of our trip yesterday you would have changed if we could do it over Wasagain?  Please explain why and how you would do it differently next time.

One part of the trip yesterday that I would change if we could do it over again is when we could have maybe work together as a team better but didn’t he could have changed that made stuff go faster and easier.

  1. If someone who is not Jewish asks you what you are buying all the materials for, how would you best describe our project (explain in simple terms what a Sukkah is).   If someone asked me why we were buying the materials I would say that it is a special place when the Jewish holiday Sukkot comes around you can meet up with friends and family and  pray together as a community.
  2. How have you owned the Sukkah project so far?

They have owned the project bye helping my Team kick out and think of ways to use the materials we got.

  1. Please describe one thing you have done so far that exhibits any of our three core values (Empathy, Wonder, Tikkun Olam).  If possible, please include a photo and explain how your action relates to the photo.

When we were picking out materials as a group  we had told wonder how we could use the materials and we had to use empathy to ask ourselves what we would do if we had to use the materials. and by using reused wood we were making it so more trees didn’t have to get cut down to get the wood floor.

  1. Please find the best photo from our trip yesterday and describe what it means to you.

I feel like this photo is a representation of how we all work together and have fun when we work together.
