This story is about the last rabbi of Baghdad and his name is Emad Levy and he was born in Baghdad in 1965. In the first part of the story, he talks about how is it like being a jew in Baghdad, how the school is like and about his family moving to Israel for Baghdad. After that, he talks about being a Jew in Baghdad after the “Six Days War”, most of the Jews left Baghdad but although it was even harder being a Jew in that time he still went to the synagogue and kept his religion and how he was helping the Jewish community if someone died, or at the synagogue. Then he says that in 2003 he got an envelope that said that he has to leave Iraque because he is Jewish and because he didn’t have a choice he told them that he will leave only if he will get a passport, then in 2010 it was the first time he left Iraque but he wasn’t upset because he always dreamed of moving and bring in Israel, and how it felt being in the holy land. He says he id not even missing Israel because he has everything here, kosher food, family and he is thankful for moving here, it was a miracle he said.

  1. Two things:
    1. Would you mind putting the link to the podcast in your post so that others can find it?
    2. It sounds like he had no regrets about moving to Israel. Do you think that all Iraqi Jews feel similarly?
