The purpose of the Nuremberg Laws was to deprive civil rights of anyone who does meet this definition because they are not of Aryan origin, and that helped them to divide the people into to groups.

The laws were creating the type of “national community” by creating two groups, the “national community” and the the “other” one –  Jews and homosexual males. The people who were on the “other” group were considered out of the “national community” and that’s how they knew who is in each group.

Those rules might have influenced the attitudes and actions of the German people by thinking that the “national community” is better than the other group, that they deserve more than the others. Those laws might have changed their lives and beliefs as a result of this law because there were many forbidden rules for the “other” group, and they couldn’t do at this time many things that they used to do every day, like being at the parks at specific times, same about the shops and markets.

  1. Excellent reflection. You are right that the Nuremberg Laws changed peoples’ everyday lives. How do you think it felt to be part of the “other” group? How did it feel to be Jewish at that time and in that place?
