Matilda (the play)

I liked the play because I never had heard a story like that. The play was about a little girl named Matilda who liked to read. Her mom/dad did not like reading  for an unknown reason. They thought reading was like braking the law. To make a long story short she lived with her teacher because that is what made her happy.

4.What was it like to be asked hard questions by your classmates?

I was not asked hard questions.

I was not asked hard questions.

6.How do you think Abraham felt after arguing with God about Sodom and Gomorrah?

Scared.

7.Compare how you felt presenting your idea to how Abraham might have felt debating with God.  How do you think you felt similar? How do you think you felt different?

I think we felt the exacted.

Response Nonfiction

What did you like most about our nonfiction study?

I like my nonfiction story because it has everything that I need to get good grades. I feel like I worked my hardest during this unit and made sure to include everything I need. l like my nonfiction story because it gives people information about dogs.

Do you think you did a good job of including detailed information in your final piece? Explain(evidence).

Yes, I think I did a good job because in the chapter where do dogs live I tried to include the most biomes I could for a dogs habitat.

What structure did you choose for your piece?

I chose description because I am really good at making the best book I can with nonfiction description.

What new writing skills, strategies, or techniques did you learn during this study?

I learned how to identified a nonfiction structure for a book.

Where did my family immigrate from

My family immigrated from Poland, Romania and Germany. They came for opportunity. They came on a boat. Two of the things that my family brought were a Jewish mirror and a jewelry box. One thing that is different from what I learned in my class about immigrate is that my family does not drink a lot of beer. People who immigrated to Milwaukee from Germany liked to drink beer.

If I was in 1963:

In class today we did a role playing activity about the march on Washington. I am a white parent living and raising my children in New York City. At my office I know African American who work in my building as janitors and elevator operators, but all the higher paid jobs are done by whites.

I am not going on the march because if I go on the march and everybody gets the same higher paid jobs, then maybe I will loose my job to a African American. I will not support them any other way because maybe if they can go on the seats on a bus then they will take up all the seats. If they can vote then if they vote for the person I do not want to be president then I will be mad.

How I am Doing on my Goals

Math: In math my goal was working, so I made a new one. My goal is to pay attention on my work and not on other people.  I am going to sit away from people, unless we are working with partners.

Reading goal: My goal was writing summaries of what I was reading. While I’m independent reading, I write long summary’s and I make predictions in readers response notebooks.  My new goal is to write a variety of responses to what I am reading.  I will try to write a different response every independent reading time.

Writing goal: In writing I’ve been struggling with putting more transition words in my stories, but I have been editing very well.  I will use my transition word sheet when I write so I can have more transition words.

We still haven’t started social studies.
