Rube Goldberg Passover Challenge

Today’s goal: By the end of class today my group will have designed the last step of our Rube Goldberg.

What went well today?

We found a idea for how to end the Rube Goldberg, but I left early, so I didn’t get to see it.

What was challenging?

What was challenging was figuring out how to knock something heavy down with something less heavy.

What steps went into deciding  your final design?

We kind of made random things or had a idea and then tried them out.

How many attempts did you try before finding success? If you did not find success, what do you think you need to try on Monday?

We were kind of testing out different ideas and most of the ones that we tested didn’t really work, but I don’t know how many attempts it took to find something that worked.

What are the next steps for your group?

The next steps are to finalize the last step and then start building the rest of the steps.

Are there any additional materials your group needs to gather?

I’m going to bring my LOL Surprise dolls, and probably random things that we might need.

Passover Rube Goldberg

My Seder Plate/Table item: Shank Bone

My Plague: Darkness

Today my group worked on brainstorming how to  turn of the lights and turn them back on.Our ideas include:Using string attached to something to turn off the lights and  using a lever to fling a ball up at the turned of lights to turn them back on. Materials we need: Big binder ring (kind of like the rings Gev. Clyde has), Thick string, a spoon, a spool, a clear tube thing and, the red toy car with the flip up things(maybe gas pumps?). These are just the ideas we came up with today, so we may need more supplies, but we haven’t got to thinking about other supplies yet.

The part of this assignment that I think will be most challenging is testing the Rube Goldberg and making it because we have to have a lot of patience to make the Rube Goldberg work.

I read through the rubric and here are my questions:

I don’t really understand why there are things in quotes.

Next steps for my group include figuring out the rest of the Rube Goldberg and how we re going to make it work.

Materials I need to start gathering:

SM is maybe bringing LOL surprise dolls to make fall over because it’s dark, so “they can’t see”.

We don’t really know what else we are bringing because, we were mainly focusing on how to get the Rube Goldberg  to make the lights go on and off, so we didn’t really have time to plan what to bring.
