I picked Jonah because everything else sounded very boring. The main topic that I learned was that he was scared and didn’t want to go to Nineveh. I enjoyed writing my slides and working with my partner nroth23. The project helped me know more about the High Holidays and what they are.

I liked the timeline post because I forgot about some of those events and that helped me remember. It helped me because I now know what and when my life mainly happened.

Today we did the pringle challenge. It was very fun because it was hard but it was fun at the same time. It was also very tempting to not eat the pringles.

This week we had several challenges in science. The challenges were Saving Fred, The penny challenge and the paper tower challenge. Saving Fred was where we had 4 paperclips, 1 boat(paper cup) that Fred was on, A gummy worm(Fred) and a life preserver. To win the challenge you had to flip the boat upright so the life preserver would show up, Get the life preserver with the paperclips, and get Fred in the life preserver without him touching the water(the table). And you also had to do that without making any physical contact with Fred. If you did, you would have to restart from the beginning. But you could lift things up and hold them with the paperclips. Once Fred is in the life preserver, you have to flip the boat upright and put Fred in. We succeeded mostly because we had 3 people. One of us held Fred and the other two held the life preserver so it went wide enough to put Fred in. We had enough time to do that 3 times before our time was up.

I am Studying the book of jonah with NRoth23. Our driving question is why did The Story of Jonah happen? Who is Jonah? What does he do? Why did Jonah get swallowed by the whale? Why did jonah ignore god? Did jonah change throughout the course of the book?

How do you feel about your student-led conference? I feel good because it went quicker than normal and we went through everything that I had in my folder. Have you thought about things you might be doing differently based upon your student-lead conference? My goal was to ask questions when I don’t understand something.  How does it feel to be in charge of a conference? Do you like it? Why or Why not? I liked being in charge and it wasn’t too hard for me. I also liked it because I agreed to my teacher and it went smoothly.

I think I did follow my study plan because I only got 1 subtraction problem wrong. The other two mistakes were silly multiplication and me not checking what the directions said.I will take my time more and look what the paragraphs say next time. I will also slow down and while I have time I will check it before turning it in.

On the weekend I will focus on large subtraction problems and two-step word problems. I noticed that in the last two weeks the most common mistake was subtraction mistakes mainly from two-step word problems. I will try to take my time and check my answers.

Yesterday 4th and 3rd grade went on our walking field trip. We first went to the Public museum, then we went to the wisconsin ave. bridge and saw Gertie the Duck. After that we went to Milwaukee City hall, after that we went to Solomon Juneau’s statue and Cabin replica. Last, we went to Byron Kilbourn’s house in Estabrook park. I learned that food was very cheap. I also learned that drug stores would sell LEACHES to help your extra blood go away. I also learned that Native Americans would use their materials Very wisely. I enjoyed seeing all the places we learned about.
