Analyzing linear relationships collaboratively

The current essential question in 7th grade math is “How can you determine if a linear relationship is increasing or decreasing?” Visiting Gev. Milbeck’s classroom made me want to sit down and debate how to solve complex math problems. Every student was focused, respectful and deeply engaged in their work. I wish this had been my experience in math class.

  1. I don’t remember any discussions in math class – wasn’t math a time to just listen, and apply formulas? I love that independant thinking is alive and well in a math class – how cool?!?
