Third graders are really working on using math talk on a regular basis. Today we had a “think, pair, share” session where students discussed a word problem involving time. There were many ways of solving this problem. So, by using our system of solving, explaining, questioning and justifying, students were able to engage in a deep discussion that lasted for 25 minutes!

Today we discussed how smart readers question, find clues from the text, and make predictions.
