Collecting

Today, we moved into the collecting stage of writing.

Students took time to think about sensory details in their writing today. They used their five senses to list some details about a person, place, object, or another element of writing. They talked with a partner and told their partner

about what they would be describing. Using a graphic organizer, students created sensory details to enhance their writing!

It was amazing.

Yearbook Contest

Incorporate the school’s rally cry, Moving From Me to We, into the design. All artwork should be turned into the office by the end of the school day on Friday, October 25. Students may work collaboratively, or independently and each submission needs to include their name(s) on the submission piece. There are three spots open for artwork placement in the MJDS yearbook: the cover, the back cover and an inside page.

Writing Workshop-selecting day

We had such an awesome writing workshop today! Students took time to review all of their writing in their binders. Next, they chose

the piece that mattered the most to them! The piece that they selected will be the one that they continue to work on (collecting information and drafting).
