Processing World Zionist Congress

What was one thing you learned throughout the project?

I learned a lot more about Russia and that the movie “Fiddler on The Roof” is kind of like what we were researching which I never knew.  I also learned a lot about how they dressed and what people in Russia ate.

How would you explain the answer to what should the future of the Jews look like?

If I lived in Russia in 1897, I would want to move to Israel because there, different kinds of Jews could come and live together and no one would be there to not like them. It would also make the Jews a lot safer because maybe it’s not safe in some places because people do not like Jews but in Israel, it would mainly be all Jews.

Programming Hanukkah Cards

A couple weeks ago we did a Hanukkah project where we were supposed to take notes on a Scratch and then make our own Hanukkah card.

It was kind of hard because I do not use Scratch a lot and definitely WOULD NOT call myself an expert. I also won’t call myself a novice because I’m not new to Scratch, I’m just not very good at coding or drawing characters. We also had the option to go to the computer lab, which I did because the computers in there are bigger than our Chromebooks and there were mouses in there that would make it easier to draw a character if we wanted to. I didn’t really learn anything WHILE coding but after I learned that to make sure the costumes reset, you just have to make sure to put a “change costume to costume ___” block right under the “When green flag pressed” block so that the costumes reset each time you play the scratch.

If you do not know how to play my scratch, it’s really easy! All you need to do is press the green flag in the upper left corner by the screen that shows the characters. Then the scratch will play. To play it again just press the green flag again!

Building Reflection

What about the building process was challenging?

We had to cut a cardboard box to get cardboard to use for our project but it was SO hard to cut so that was challenging.

How did your build differ from your plan? (If your build was different than your plan, update your plan!)

It was different from our original plan because in our original plans we used Rapunzel’s tears and in our current plan we use the rain. (we updated our plan though)

How did your group work well together during the build? What would you do again?

We worked together to try and cut the cardboard and we worked together to make a good model magic Rapunzel. (we really like how it looks)

How did your group struggle during the build? What would you change?

It was hard to get the cardboard together with hot glue and then we ended up not even using that cardboard. maybe next time we can make sure the cardboard will fit together.

Explorers Reflections

What about this project went well for you? Explain.

What went well was that I could make it a little funny and still make it a good project

What about this project did not go well for you? Explain.

It was kind of hard to find some information because Erik The Red lived in 950 and it’s 2018 so there isn’t a lot of information from that old (it was over 1000 years ago)

How can you create a better project next time?

Maybe I can get more information and THEN make my script because I kind of made my script as I went.

How did you think the planning process went? Were you able to find all the information you needed?

I think it went pretty well. I think my project was pretty cool and I was able to get all my information.

What could Adon Kaufman and Gev. Noorlander do differently next time?

I know this sounds weird but maybe give us less time because then we would maybe do a little more in class but since we had a lot of time, we were kind of like, “oh ok, I can’t find this but I will just find it tomorrow”.

What impact did explorers make?

They found land for people to live on and without them, we would either have nowhere to live or be very squished in one place.

Dissection Reflection

  • What is the value of dissecting?

You can look to see what is in the animal, if there is a disease in the animal, and without that if there was a disease it might spread to humans. It also helps people write books about the animal for a science class or something.

  • How did the dissection help you understand what is happening between the sea lamprey and the trout?

It helped me understand how much of a threat the sea lampreys were. I didn’t really understand how bad of a threat they were until I saw their teeth. After that I knew that they were a BIG threat.

  • How did you feel about dissection? If you enjoyed the process, why did you enjoy it? If you did not enjoy it, what was difficult about it?

It wasn’t DIFFICULT but it was pretty gross and I was too scared to touch the fish or sea lamprey. Also when we took out the sea lamprey’s intestines, it made the most DISGUSTING ripping sound and I was really grossed out. But it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be because I thought it wold bleed or something when we cut it.

Rapunzel Planning Reflection

How did spending more time on planning improve your final blueprint?

We could get a better idea but I wasn’t at school on Monday (last Monday) so I don’t know what they originally thought of.

How did your group come to one final plan after brainstorming several ideas?

We came up with it because one idea seemed the most realistic and the most safe and possible to do so we picked it.

Why do you think taking more time to plan was important?

We could get a better idea and think it through more so that we don’t have to do it over again because the plan wasn’t relistic enough.

Did brainstorming with multiple people help you come up with more ideas? How?

Yes it helped because instead of just thinking of YOUR ideas, you could get a lot more because other people were thinking of plans they liked.

What would you differently during the planning process next time?

Maybe we could think of more realistic plans so we don’t have to keep changing it to make it better.
