Egyptian G-ds

  • What is the largest difference between Ancient Egyptian religious beliefs and our beliefs as Jews?

A big difference is that for us Jews there is only one g-d and for the Egyptians, there is a lot of g-ds.

  • Which G-D did you find most fascinating?

Probably Ra because the name sounds so cool. Also, Ra is the sun g-d and I think that that is cool because the Egyptians believed that he was swallowed every night by the sky g-d, and reborn every morning.

  • What is one thing you are wondering about Ancient Egyptian religion?

I wonder why there are so many g-ds and why some are kind of the same as others. I also wonder what the other Ra (Ra-Horakhty) was and why he was there.

OLW-One word goal

My One Word Goal: Remember

One thing I can do this week to help me stick to my goal: I can check my schedule before school so that I can know what classes I have before I have them.

One thing my teachers can do this week to help me stick to my goal: Maybe they can put the next class o the board or something like that.

One thing my friends can do this week to help me stick to my goal: They can remind me to check my schedule.

One thing my family at home can do this week to help me stick to my goal: They can remind me to look at my schedule so that I know what my schedule is the next day.

MPM Reflection

    • Which of the 10 exhibits we visited was your favorite? Why?
  • My favorite exhibit was The Streets Of Old Milwaukee because the houses look so cool and you can watch a black and white movie and pump water from a pump that actually works. I also really like the kind of new train/trolley “ride”  because the video playing in the windows look so real and cool.
    • What is one new thing you learned at the museum yesterday?
  • I learned that you can pull up the statue’s hat, in The Old Europe Villages , and actually put a coin in it. I think that this is cool because it matches up with the poem that the statue is holding.
    • Which exhibit do you think you’ll highlight in your poem? Why?

I might use Native American Pow Wow because the noises could be fun to put in my poem and would make the poem better and I can kind of think of what the poem could be if I picked that exhibit. I also might use the Japanese Garden because it is so pretty and looks peaceful.

Index Card Challenge

Initial Experience: We did this in the beginning of the year and it was hard. My group’s design was shaped some index cards like circles width wise and then taped that together and then put a flat index card on top and then did it again.(I’m not sure if we taped the flat index card on the circle one or not) Our tower would probably have held up the stuffed fish, but I bumped the table before we put the fish on the tower, so I think me bumping the tower threw off the tower’s balance and because of that the tower fell down. More evidence that me bumping the table made the tower fall is that before I bumped the table, the tower could hold up scissors!

Group Roles:

SE= sedelstein21

SM=smishelow21

SK=skrivitzky21

BW=bwalker21

Materials Manager: **SE and SM**

Chat Captain: SK

TimeKeeper: BW

Documenter: **SE and SM** (but we all have different Chromebooks so really everyone should have been documenting for themselves)

** SE and SM will be switching of, SM will start being Documenter and SE will start doing Materials Manager then we will switch and we will write down when we switch**

Materials:

100 Index Cards

1 Meter of Masking Tape

Planning:

Skrivitzky wanted to make triangles and then put a flat index card on top, and keep doing that for the tower but since I had background knowledge about making circles and then putting a flat index card on to and keep doing that to make the tower, we agreed to do that. PICTURE

What we did:

(We only had 9 minutes to do this)

First we started to make circles width wise, and tape them down to the index card triangle. PICTURE

The tower started to lean over. PICTURE

We ended up not really using the Materials Manager and since we all have different Chromebooks me and SE didn’t really switch off roles

We made more circles. PICTURE

Midway Reflection:

PICTURE of where we are at

What’s going well is that the tower is about 19 inches high and our group worked pretty well together.

What didn’t go well was that me and SE were the only ones who documented but looking back I feel like everyone should have documented on their own Chromebook

Second Attempt:

PICTURE of tower

How tall the tower ended up was 21 inches.

What we changed from our original design was we made the tower taller but now the tower is tipping.

Our reflection thoughts worked because we made the tower taller, I didn’t think of the reflection thoughts when we made it taller, but it now the tower is taller.

What we would do differently next time is maybe put some more support on the tower so it doesn’t lean as much

The group roles didn’t really help because we all had separate blog posts and so everyone had to document and we didn’t really use them.

Bloxels

What we already knew:

I didn’t know what bloxels were, I knew that they existed, I just didn’t know what they were.

We think we are going to make the game cat-themed and the mice are the prey and the cat is trying to get the mice.

Me, skrivitzky and bwalker like cats so that’s how we thought of the idea.

Planning:

We put green on the bottom for the ground and then made one of those cat tower bed things for the cat and then added some hazard blocks and some checkpoints . Then we put in the enemies, the cats, and the power ups, the mice, then we added some exploding blocks on the top of the board. We ended up taking of the hazard blocks because we would have to restart to many times and the game would be really hard. We wanted a dog chasing a cat and a cat chasing a mouse but Gev. Clyde said only one character would show, so we decided not to put in the dog. We also had to ask for more green blocks, the ground, because we made the cat tower big and used up a lot of the green blocks.

Predator Prey Relationships Graph

*Explain the trend of increases and/or decreases for both the rabbit and wolf populations between the years 1930-1950.

Rabbit: The trend is increasing between 1930 and 1950 but in some years it went up and years it went down.

Wolf: The trend is decreasing but in some years it went up and then it went back down in a

*Look at the years 1987 and 1993. Explain your thinking as to why there is such a large difference in population numbers between those five years.

Maybe people were eating more animals in 1987 so the population of the animals was lower and in 1993 the people might have realized what they were doing (or just ate less animals) so less animals got killed so that people could eat them.

*Analyze the population changes between 2000-2005.

Wolf: In 2000 the population was 52 and then in 2005 the population was only 22. So the population decreased

Rabbit: In 2000 the population was 30 and in 2005 it was 84. So the population increased

Smishelow got rosemary and thyme and mixed it with the mixture.

Smishelow put the mixture on the chicken.

Aodesky has been taking pictures of our procedure.

Smishelow, ygaines and aodesky cleaned the table

Group Reflection (Discuss and answer these questions as a group)

Using the senses of sight, touch and smell, describe your chicken..How has the size changed? Color? Feel? BE AS SPECIFIC AS POSSIBLE!!

Sight: The chicken looked reddish brown and kind of bumpy.

Touch: You could feel the bones the spine especially.

Smell: The chicken smelled like old mixture and old chicken. We did not like the smell.

Mold Terrarium Follow-Up

Once the mold began to grow, how did the appearance of the mold change over time?

The mold didn’t change because there isn’t mold on the bread yet.

Hopefully, when we buy foods at a grocery store they are not moldy. What do you think food manufacturers do to foods to prevent the growth of mold?

(Hint! Using your Alan November research skills, try googling this answer. Be sure to include your source when you answer this on your blog.)

What I think: I’ve heard that at McDonalds they put lemon juice on the apple slices so that they don’t turn brown. Maybe food manufacturers use some chemical or juice to prevent the growth of mold on the food.

What I researched: They can clean the fridge that they keep some food in. Use plastic wrap to wrap open foods.

Many fungi are decomposers. What does this mean? (Hint! Think back to our discussions and research before break)

It means that fungi breaks down dead animals and old food using bacteria.

Make a list of useful things fungi can do. (Hint! Think back to our discussions and research before break)

  • Mold is fungi and mold is in penicillin
  • Yeast is fungi and yeast rises bread
  • Fungi breaks down old food and dead animals
  • Mushrooms are a type of fungi and we eat mushrooms (the safe ones)
