I am most excited to share the frames because I think they are the best part of the entire build.
3. What aspect of the building have you felt most connected to and why?
I have felt connected to the skach because it looks really cool and very green.
4. How has building the Sukkah as a class helped grow your sense of community?
It hasn’t because it is really stressful for me.
5. When your family comes to the Sukkah on Wednesday night, what is one thing you are going to tell them about and why?
I am going to tell them about the entire process of the Sukkah because it was a very wild ride.

Sukkah Day 17

1. Sukkot represents impermanence (something that should not be permanent). Explain if you believe or disagree that our Sukkah, which is safely standing on its own, is violating that.
Its violating that because a lot of the screws that have gone too deep and are going to be really hard to take out.
2. Describe how this Sukkah project has changed your perspective (how has it changed, what has it changed about, has it changed for the better/worst).
???

I have used my body by moving back and forth from the makerspace to outside to bring materials. I have also moved my body by going up the ladder and drilling in the skach.
4. How do you plan on getting guests into the Sukkah?
By finishing building the sukkah because I don’t feel like the Sukkah is completely ready to have guests let in.

Sukkah Day 15

1. What did you do today (describe the process of what you accomplished)? – minimum 3 complete sentences
When we got out today, right away we brought out the last wall that needed to go to the front of the school. Next we started putting together all of the walls, we only got 3 done today. Ari and I were the ones in charge of putting the supports on the walls so they can stand up without someone holding them.
2. What is one thing you have done so far you were initially scared/worried about, but now feel more confident in after all this practice? – minimum 3 complete sentences
I was really scared about moving walls. I was scared of it because I kept thinking people will drop it and it’s going to give someone a concussion. Now after moving 4 walls I’m pretty confident to say that I have gotten over that fear.
3. Give a step by step account of what you have done so far to get our Sukkah up to where it is today.
1. We planned the building sukkah
2. We bought all of the wood, screws, and bolts
3. We Put together all of the plats necessary for building

8. Put all of the walls together

Sukkah Day 14

1. Explain in at least two sentences what YOU accomplished today.
1st I put in the last few screws needed for the header of the door. 2nd With the help of some friends I cut off the bottom of the door so that no one trips and gets hurt.
2. Explain in at least two sentences what YOUR GROUP accomplished today.
1st we finished making the door by putting in the last screws. 2nd we moved our wall to where it is supposed to go so that we don’t have to waste more time doing it later.
3. Explain in at least two sentences what YOUR GROUP has to finish tomorrow. If you don’t know, ask a group member.
My group needs to start gathering materials for the roof.

Sukkah day 11

In the start of class today we practiced hammering nails because everyone was hammering nails incorrectly

This is my group getting ready to start for the day

The is one of my group mates bringing more materials because we forgot things.

This is a far away shot of what our wall looks like

and this is just an image of early right after we brought out the wall.

Sukkah day 11

1. What did your group accomplish today?
We put in 6 studs and drilled in one of the corners. We also started making the door frame.
2. What do you have left to complete in order for your wall to be finished?
We have to finish the door, screw and nail the other side of the studs and put in drywall
3. Explain how well your group communicated/participated today. Be sure to include one specific example.                      We did not yell at each other at all today. I asked Shira nicely today to put in one of the nails and I helped her put it in.

Shira making the doorframe!

Sukkah Day 10

1. What did your group accomplish today?
We planned out what we are going to do for our door on our wall because we completely forgot about it when we were putting our studs in. We also put in another corner so that we can work on studs and the wall at the same time.
2. What do you have left to complete in order for your wall to be finished?
We have to finish our studs, add the door frame and add the plywood and decorate.
3. What help do you need from me (Adon Kaufman) or your classmates? Be specific.
We just need help making sure that the nails and screws we are putting in are straight and we also need someone who knows what they’re doing because Yosef and I usually have to ask Adon Kaufman what to do next.

My groupmate working on making the logs for the
door because we didn’t buy the wood for the door
because we knew there was enough wood at school
for us to use for our door.

Sukkah Day 9

1. Describe what skills (s) you have learned so far. Who taught you those skills? How did they teach you those skills? How can you master those skills?
I have learned how to use a proper drill and how to tell which drill to use for different things. I was taught because I was told to use 1 to do pilot holes and 1 to do screws. I can master them by running through what I need to do in my head and think what I need for them so I know I need this drill for screws and this one for pilot holes.
2. Explain if you believe your group is ahead of behind other groups. Explain why you believe you are at that point.
I think my group is behind but not by far because we had a few setbacks that took set us behind quite a bit but after we solved those problems we were able to move very swiftly to catch up with most of the groups so now we are in the middle of ahead and behind.
3. How effectively did your group communicate and collaborate with each other? Provide one SPECIFIC example to support your point.
In the beginning and middle we were doing horribly with communication. We were yelling at each other a lot and we were also just not telling people when we needed something as often as we should have.
4. Today is a complete reset from last week. What is one goal YOU have for yourself? Explain why you picked that goal.
I want to work harder on helping my group when they need it because often if I wasn’t doing anything like drilling or hammering I would just sit down and watch everyone else do stuff. I think I should help my group like offering to help stabilize the log or holding the screw still until it gets into the log.
5. What is one goal you have for YOUR team? Explain why you picked that goal.
One goal I have for my group is to work together and collaborate because we always pick independent jobs which is a lot less efficient than just working on something hard together.

This is my group finally putting all the wood we made together to make the frame of the wall!

Sukkah Day 8 – Problem Solving

1. What are the five steps to solving a problem (please list the steps)?
1: Adress the Problem
2: Come up with solutions to problem
3: Pick out which one is the best
4: Execute solutions
5: Get back to work.
2. Your group identified a problem you were experiencing. What was the problem? What were your solutions?
The problem was that we were having a lot of disagreement on things and people weren’t working to their fullest. Our solutions were A: Split up the work and B: Compromise.
3. Describe how it felt working with your group after you identified your problem and came up with solutions.
Everything went a lot more smoothly with my group. After one day of working like that we got our boards outside and now today we are going to start making the wall and studs. It was also a lot more fun and a lot less stressful for me because my group wasn’t just screaming at each other the entire time we were working.

My group finishing up the last board so that we can start working on studs.
