7th One Pager Summer Reading Assessment

  1. Explain three choices you made on your one-pager which show your comprehension of the book or what you learned from the book.
Three choices I made were, 1: I showed quotes to bring connect to my text. 2: I drew the main theme of the book so that the reader can understand the theme without even reading the text. 3: I included items in the drawing because they are key components to the book and without them, the book would have no plot.
  2. Explain how you used color on your one-pager.
I used color to show the difference between earth and otherworld. I also used color to help the reader know that one paragraph isn’t related to the other.
  3. Explain two pieces of textual evidence and why you choose that text for your one-pager.
I used two quotes from the book, one is, “Imagine a future in which you can leave reality behind and give in to your greatest desires. That future is now. And the future is terrifying.”  -Simon” this quote backs up my claim that technology can be horrifying. Another quote was, “I can’t tell what’s real and what’s not anymore. My worlds are colliding.” This backs up my claim that the theme of the books is that the worlds are colliding.
  4. Which learning goal did you do your best work on? Which one do you find challenging?
I think I did better than last year by using more evidence and wording. My one-pager last year wasn’t the highest quality but I really tried hard on this one.

Book Club 1

One new idea I got from my group mates is thinking of how much time had past since the beginning of the book.

The most interesting part of my book is the fact that Alex’s dad might still be alive and he just faked it.

One way I can improve for discussion next time is not space out as much.

Elements of plot

Here are a few plot graphs I did during class

What book are you currently reading?

Hunger Games: Mockingjay

Why did you choose this book?

Because I LOVED the 1st 2

Thinking about your book, Who are the main characters?

Ms. Coin, Katniss, Gale, Finnick, and Plutarch

What was the inciting incident, or the moment that takes place that creates the story?

I’m not too sure yet but I think it’s half of the tributes being captured by the capitol

What smaller problems happened in the book?

The food in district 13, Finnick’s mental illness

Have you reached the climax of your book? What was the big moment of tension?

I have not reached the climax YET

Have you reached the resolution? If yes, is it what you thought would happen? If not, how do you think the problem will be resolved?

I have not reached the resolution YET

What type of conflict has occurred in your book?

Internal because Katniss hates district 13 and a lot of people in it and she continuously struggles with herself. It is also external because it is Katniss vs. the Capitol
