Mom: Hi David!

Challenging Son: **in suspicious tone of voice* I have a question…

Mom: Yes?!

Challenging Son: *in questioning tone of voice* Why do we do passover?

Mom: Well, it’s been a tradition for thousands of years to commemorate how G-d saved us from slavery.

Challenging Son: *in questioning tone of voice** Well yeah I know that but what’s the deep meaning behind Passover?

Mom: That is a great question…. But I don’t know the answer. Maybe ask your dad. He might know.

Challenging Son: *in disappointed  tone of voice* Okay.

(David goes to find his dad)

Dad: Hi David!

Challenging Son; *in excited tone of voice* Hi dad! I have a question for you!

Dad: Yeah! What is it!?

Challenging Son: *in questioning tone of voice* Well, what is the deep meaning behind Passover?

Dad: Well you stumped me on that one. Maybe you should ask the Rabbi?

Book Club One Refection

What is one new idea from book club?
A new idea from bookclub is that I never realized that one of the main themes could be, just like in “Remember the Titans” sports can bring people together. I say this because right now Griff and Eric are not really friends but I feel that because Eric likes basketball and the first scene of the book was in a baksetball court, usually the first scene of books (that Ive read) becomes a key place and usually at the end to show character change.
 What is the most interesting part of your book(in your opinion)?
The most interesting part of my book in my opinion is that Griff is two faced. What I mean by this is that when Griff is in the lunchroom and he asks about a teacher’s summer and she said that her dog dies. Griff pretends to be sorry but then when the teacher left, Griff told Eric that he didnt really care about the dog and what the teacher had said. Here I learned what kind of a character Griff is because yes I did learn about other characters and their traits but it never said it in a dialouge form.
In the discussion next time, how can you grow as a collaborator by?

Not interupting as much(because I feel that I might have interuppted too much). Also, giving even more evidence than before to make my claim stronger. Lastly, I want to work on(if I am recorder next time) recording while listening, rather than writing some of the answers after we are done talking about the question.

 

Mitzvah Day

Im going to share what I did on Mitzvah Day with you! First of all,I cant remember exactly but a few eigth graders were in my group and so were some seventh and sixth graders.This was for the first few hours of my day.I drove with a teacher from our school in a car to our destination which was a preschool.

While there, I worked with one of the eigth graders and we were with 3 years olds.While vulunteering,it was really fun and the kids were adorable. I learned that I made a difference in thier day because they had smiles on their face and were happy and liked us! I would do this opportunity again because I mean who could say no to adorable 3 year olds and they are very entertaining! I would go either with my family or school to here.I growed as a person from this expierence because I used to not love little kids as much but now there adorable and I love them.

After that, we went to Chai Point(a senior home) and we ate lunch and got delicous candy!(Shhhhhhhhhhh dont tell my parents). Anyways when we were done with lunch I drove in a car with some of my classmates and one of my teachers. We drove to the VA medical center. If you dont know thats a home for veterans.

While there,we played bingo,trivia,and enjoyed their compnay for a little bit and had a good time! It felt very unique to help the veterans considering that they have served in our country to keep us safe and this is kind of our way of showing respect.I learned that there were multiple diffrent training camps in and out of the USA for the Veterans. I would probably only go back with family because my grandpa was a Veteran and it would be special to go with him and or my family. I grew from this experience because I used to be afraid of touching seniors but now they are just the same as everyone and its the same as touching anyone.

Overall this was a very fun day and I felt good at the end knowing that I had helped others!

 

City Hall Expierence

Here Is My Reflection:

Today I’m going to share my experience at the City Hall that I had and my experience of meeting our Mayor! The first thing we did was go on coach buses which we were really fortunate to do! Inside the coach bus were unique designs and comfortable chairs and huge windows with a beautiful view outside. Finally when we got to the City Hall we were welcomed by the community which was quite nice. There was lots of chattering until finally a few people spoke about Yom Haatzmaut and its importance. While some representatives from the community were talking we all enjoyed a sandwich and some sites such as veggie straws and popcorn and some water. Then we got to hear the Mayor speak which was quite a unique opportunity. The Mayor said that he would make Yom Haatzmaut a national day in our city! When I heard that I got so excited and very proud of not only our Mayor but also our community and how much everyone cares about everyone. Then we got lucky and we had some cake in the Shape of Israel which was really cool and we played a fun Yom Haatzmaut game with the Shin Shins. For the game we had to first get into groups and we were combined with another school which was a great opportunity to meet new people. Then we had five challenges that we had to do that were about Israel! Out of about 20 groups I think my team and I got into 6th or 7th place! For prizes there were water bottles,bracelets,and more! Finally to top off this amazing day we got to go to the 3rd level out of eight levels in the City Hall! That might not seems like its really high up but trust me it was! Overall this was such a fun day with so many cool opportunities and I hope I can go to the City Hall again!

Invention Convention Brainstorming

Invention Convention Project Proposal:

What ideas have you brainstormed?

Maybe it could be something that helps you get ready in the morning easily or for people who are in a wheelchair they can have a fun ride if they want to go on stairs or get elevated. Maybe a chair that pops up and can make you reach things that your not able to reach. Maybe a set of train tracks where you can get around your house by tracks and a train for when you are sick and be able to get what you need!
What is the problem you identified?

This will be good for you if you are sick or lazy and you are home alone and can’t move you can get out of your bed by getting lifted by something and going into the chair to get what you need. Also you are probably saying inside your head right now that that will be annoying to have around my house so it is very easy clean-up! You can just press play on the robot and the robot will be able to go pick up all the tracks around your house but hopefully you will be able to clean this up when you feel better! (This is also for people who are disabled) This could also be a chair that you could lay down in and put all your pillows,blankets,and stuffed animals in. If you have stairs in your house no problem you can put the track on the stairs that also works! You can also get as many tracks as you need to your liking! For stairs I might use this thing that is already invented but will make it better! Also there’s a massager built in.
What is the solution to your problem?  Please include a labeled sketch.

This is for people who are sick or disabled and it will help them move around and get to places while home alone without getting up because when you are sick you are tired and have no energy.

Where did I look to see if the idea was new?

I looked to see on google images and there was something with tracks but it wasn’t what I was thinking of.
What materials do I need?I need real like size train tracks(not sure what size yet)

A long leight weighted comfortable chair

A robot or something like that to clean up the tracks

Remote control to operate

What is my plan?

I think I might make a model instead but my first plan is to make the tracks then the train then the remote control and robot part and then test and test again!
What help do I need from others?

I need help maybe with people bringing in stuff for my project

I might also need help building things

I might need other support but not exactly sure what yet but will let you know when I know

 

Roller Coaster Lab Write Up

Key Terms and Concepts That I Need to Know and Their Definitions:

  • Potential Energy:This is energy that is stored at the top of roller coasters and it stores all the enrgy that the Roller Coaster needs for the whole roller coaster but especially for the big drop.
  • Kinetic Energy:This is also known as motion energy and the roller coaster uses a lot of motion energy so that it can move.
  • Conservation of Energy:This is energy that can turn into differnt forms so for example a roller coaster can go from potential to motion energy.
  • Gravity:This is force that makes something fall in a forcefull way so for example when a roller coaster is going down on a big and steep hill besides for the motion energy there is also gravitational energy happening at the same time.
  • Velocity:This is bassicly speed that is going in a certain or specific direction.
  • Friction:This is when two things rub against each other and cause a form of energy or something else to happen or help something move forward.
  • Slope (Rise/Run):This is almost like an incline plane becase its like a hill where there is the top which is very tall and high and then as the hill goes down it gets littlier and lower.
Materials I Used:
 I used duct tape,foam for the actual roller coater,a wall to hold up the first part of the roller coaster and to give it potential energy,and diffrent colored marbles to use as a roller coaster “car”.

Here is a Summary of  My Project:

What starting height was needed for the marble to make it through the loop most of the time?

We needed the top of the roller coaster to be about 2 and a half feet so that when it went up and down the loops it didn’t touch the floor and it got a head start for lots of motion and gravatational energy for then next loop.
 What can you determine about the relationship between potential energy and kinetic energy?

Motion energy can only happen if there is potential energy(Stored energy) so bassicly what happens is that while the roller coaster is at the “peak” right before the BIG DROP thats where the potential enrgy is and then especially in the middle of the big drop for the roller coaster is where the most motion energy is(usually).So they are related because they work togther to make the roller coaster be able to go and also because of what I said above.
