Blogging Challenge Eight-Reflection

How many weeks of the challenge did you participate in?

I participated in all eight weeks. On the fourth week I got a shoutout on the master blog page.

How many comments did you receive from classmates, teachers, or other visitors?

I have recieved nine comments(so far).

Which post did you enjoy writing the most and why?

I enjoyed writing the music post the most. I think this is because I connected with this topic the most out of all topics. This is because I love music, therefore, I was more motivated to do a post on it.

Which web tools did you use to show creativity on your blog?

I feel that I didnt really use any web tools to show creativity on my blog. Maybe a goal for myself(if I ever do this challenge again) is to use web tools to show creativity.

What did you learn about yourself during this challenge?

I learned that I am good at responding in a timely manner to other’s comments on my blog posts. I also learned that I like to look at other’s blog posts which helps gives myself ideas on what to post about. Lastly, I learned that I like connecting with others from around the world.

Blogging Challenge Seven-Holidays

Jewish Holidays:

-Rosh Hashana(start of the Jewish New Year)It is the birthday of the world(accoring to what Jews believe). It is customary to eat apples and honey to represent a happy, healthy, and sweet new year. It is also customary to go to temple and celebrate with family and friends.

-Yom Kippur(Day of Repentence)If you are over the age of Bar/Bat Mitzvah(when you become an adult according to Jewish law) it is customary to fast for 25 hours. This is to really just take time and reflect without any distractions. A lot of people are in temple most of the day praying.

-Sukkot(feast of tabernacles)Some people build their own Sukkah. This is to remind that the Jews were in the desert for fourty years and this was their form of shelter. Feel free to go check out my Sukkah Blog Posts because my class and I built our own Sukkah from scratch.

-Simchat Torah(Celebration of finishing another full year of reading the book of Jewish scriptures) This is a joyous holiday full of dancing and singing. It is customary to go to temple and celebrate with family and friends.

-Hannukah(The festival of lights) This holiday celebrates the Jews rededication of the second temple in Jerusalem. This happened after the Jews won the war against the Greeks. To celebrate, we light a menorah(sacred candelabrum) for eight days, just like the menorah in the second temple.

-Passover(celebration of the Jews being freed from slavery in Egypt). It is customary to have a seder(Jewish ritual service/dinner). It is also customary to eat Matzah(bread without flour). There is no flower to represent when the Jews had to leave Egypt and there was no time for their bread to rise.

(There are more Jewish Holidays, but these are the ones that my family celebrates and some of the traditions that we do). Feel free to check out google or other sites for more information on each of these holidays and/or to learn about other Jewish holidays.

Classroom Economy-Day 1

Explain the role/job you have been assigned for our Classroom Economy.

I am making sure that everyone(including myself) has their homework written down in their assignment notebook. I have to write my siganture in everyones notebook as evidence to the teacher of doing my job correctly. If I dont sign people’s assignment notebook(inclduing mine), I have to pay $25, per assingment notebook not signed.

What are you most excited/nervous about for our Classroom Economy?

I am most nervous about having to be strict if someone hasnt filled out their assignment notebook. This is because I dont want to come off as mean, but at the same time, I need to get the job done. I will make a goal of having a balance between being strict, yet still being nice and understanding to others.

In my mind, poverty is caused by…

I think poverty is caused by someone loosing their job. Then they cant pay bills(due to not having money). After that, they are evicted and dont have money to pay other bills like groceries and medical bills. This then causes them to be in poverty. I think it is very hard to get a new job after being in poverty. This is because in order to get to a job interview, you usually need transportation to get there and other things such as nice clothes and while in poverty, it is very hard to get those things.

Week #4 Challenge

My Comment:

Hi,

That is so cool that your school has a mountain biking team! Its not exactly the same, but this past week the 8th graders at my school had a biking trip(not mountain biking but there were hills) and they biked around 95 miles! How did you get into biking? Does someone in your family do it?
