Podcast Review

Im going to share a review on the podcast “Why Do We Have Daylight Savings”?. The producers of this podcast are Jane Lindholm and Melody Bodette. The genere of this podcast is Non-Fiction. This podcast was about why we have daylight savings and what it does for our planet and how it works. For example the reason why we have daylight savings is because of how the sun works and where it goes and thats why we have daylight savings. I think this podacst was very credible because the people who talked one of them was an author of a book about daylight savings and the other person hade a lot of backround information on this subject. I liked this podcast with evidence because it sounded more trusting and it was more educational. I would recommend the podcast to anyone who likes learning about time and how the earth works with time. I liked what the podcast was talking about but it was really hard for me to focus because there was nothing to look at. As a learner I need visuals in front of me to help me understand and concentrate more on what Im doing. Overall I would give this a 5 out of 5 because it was educational but entertaining and fun at the same time.

Reflection On Year In Teffilah

  1. What were three of your favorite things we did in tefilah this year, and why? My first one is “Rosh Chodesh” groups because we got to be with just the girls in our class and it was fun talking and bonding with them! The second one was glee because I love to sing and I met new people! The last one is the friendship circle because I know the people who did it and it was funny with the activities that we did but we also learned about other people!
  2. What were two of your least favorite things we did in tefilah this year, and why? The first one is when we looked through a siddur and wrote about the prayer because it was really boring and not very meaningful to me. I dont really have another one.
  3. We will have tefilah on the calendar again next year.  What would you like to keep or continue in tefilah? Everything besides for what I mentioned above and maybe we could have a lot more meditaton and kind of make it into a spa and give massages!
  4. What would you like to have less of in tefillah? Maybe people talking and being direspectful to each other and to teachers.
  5. What would you like to add to tefilah? Maybe for the Rosh Chodesh we can do less of the would you rather and instead just have a naraul converstaion about something and try to relate it to jusdism. Also maybe we could do a spa day during rosh Chodesh and myabe we could be with some of the boys?
  6. If you were telling a student who was new to upper school about tefilah, and trying to get him/her excited about it, what would you share? I would share how there is just not one way of praying and how there are fun ways to learn and pray in Teffilah. Here we do rosh Chodesh which is where we get togethr with some of our classmates and share about whats going on in our lifes and opnions on things. Also how we do fun games related to Teffilah and how we have electives such as Glee Club(where you sing),meditation, god talk, and other fun things like that!
  7. What other thoughts or ideas do you want to share about your tefilah experience this year? overall I had a relly great and fun year in Teffilah and I got to meet and talk to new people!

Mitzvah Day

Im going to share what I did on Mitzvah Day with you! First of all,I cant remember exactly but a few eigth graders were in my group and so were some seventh and sixth graders. This was for the first few hours of my day.I drove with a teacher from our school in a car to our destination which was a preschool.

While there, I worked with one of the eigth graders and we were with 3 years olds. While vulunteering,it was really fun and the kids were adorable. I learned that I made a difference in thier day because they had smiles on their face and were happy and liked us! I would do this opportunity again because I mean who could say no to adorable 3 year olds and they are very entertaining! I would go either with my family or school to here.I growed as a person from this expierence because I used to not love little kids as much but now there adorable and I love them.

After that, we went to Chai Point(a senior home) and we ate lunch and got delicous candy!(Shhhhhhhhhhh dont tell my parents). Anyways when we were done with lunch I drove in a car with some of my classmates and one of my teachers. We drove to the VA medical center. If you dont know thats a home for veterans.

While there,we played bingo, trivia, and enjoyed their compnay for a little bit and had a good time! It felt very unique to help the veterans considering that they have served in our country to keep us safe and this is kind of our way of showing respect.I learned that there were multiple diffrent training camps in and out of the USA for the Veterans. I would probably only go back with family because my grandpa was a Veteran and it would be special to go with him and or my family. I grew from this experience because I used to be afraid of touching seniors but now they are just the same as everyone and its the same as touching anyone.

Overall this was a very fun day and I felt good at the end knowing that I had helped others!

Biography Update

Subject of Biography:My Mom

Why I chose this subject:I chose this subject because my mom is very close to me and I wanted to write about her and her life. I also wanted it to be a mothers day gift but clearly that isnt happening this year for ovious reasons!

Sneak peak of Introduction:Susan Michelle Boyer was born on February 4th 1974 in Morton Grove,Illinois to Sandra and Arthur Boyer. Her sister Marcia,2 and a half years older was very excited about the new edition to the family and so were her parents! This would be just the start of her life journey….

Element of biography I want to make sure I include and why: I want to include pictures so that people are actually able to visulaize my moms life in their mentally and physically. I also want to add in as many dates as possible so that people know exactly when something happend and can “Track Down Time”.

Debating About Torah

Debating About Torah:

The problem is that when we learn about the ten commandments there are different approaches and I believe in the miracle method. I say this because I belive in miracles and in G-d and all he can do, how much power he has and what he can control and do. This relates to the text in the way that it says shamor in one text which means keep and in another text is says zachor which means to remember. Its talking about Shabbat in it! This relates to beileving because we should believe that both of these ways are okay and g-d will excpet us either way. Also I belive in this because g-d is not a human so he can say multiple things at a time so both of these things can be true!

How do we resolve the differences between the Two versions of the Ten Commandments?

I didnt really get this assignment but I’m gonna try to do what I think makes sense.

1.What Is An Explanation Of The Method?

I dont know if this is a method but the one where they talk about Shabbat is where they are comparing differnt ways of keeping Shabbat and if you should remember it or observe it.

2.Why you prefer the method?

I preffer it because its nice to compare 2 different things that kind of have the same meaning but yet you can still compare them and one is just kind of addin onto the other method.

3.Any problems with the method?

The only problem would be that maybe one would be more logical then the other one. What I mean by this is that which one do you think G-d wants us to do. Maybe there is no right or wrong answer but thats just my opnion.
