Help Stop Water Pollution

Do you ever wonder is the water you drink fresh and clean? Well in most countries the water is not fresh and not clean. The United States is the second country that has the most water pollution. We are 15 percent of the worlds water pollution. Even though in Milwaukee there is a law about if you are caught throwing any trash in the water you will be fined 500 dollars. But is that really a law if you can still pollute water? Just a thing that you can think about.

Did you know that from 2014 – 2017 around 1,242,287 people have died from water pollution because  humans have thrown trash in to oceans, lakes, and rivers. It isn’t just humans that have died it is also animals. There has been 100,000 sea mammals have died from water pollution. There has also been 1,000,000 sea birds have also died from water pollution and they died because of our water pollution. Some reasons that animals have died are oils spills, plastic straws which get in turtles noses, chemicals dumped into the water, and mining activities.

Did you know that oceans creates 70 percent of the oxygen that we breath? We have lost some of that oxygen because of water pollution. The ocean makes up 97% of the salt water on Earth. Do you really want to drink dirty water? Probably not. When people play in water they think “Oh this water is perfectly fine!” But really the water isn’t clean. If that water is not clean, people can get sick and spread  their sickness. Eighty percent of the worlds waste is dumped into water. If humans keep polluting water it can lead to lung cancer, respiratory, diseases such as emphysema. If you play or drink in dirty water you can throw up. If all the water in the world   is polluted what will humans and animals have left to drink? The answer, nothing. Animals and humans will not have anything in the world to drink without any water for humans and animals we will die.

If we keep polluting water it is going to lead to acid rain, which will lead to bad food. Acid rain is rainfall made sufficiently acidic by atmospheric pollution. Acid will affect your food because it takes away the nutrients and helpful minerals.

What about the huge oil spill that happened in 2011? An oil spill like that could affect food sources, aquatic plants and can even spread diseases through the water. Even the tiniest oil spills can lead to thousand of fish being killed. That leads to fishermen not catching any fish because most of them are all dead.

If you really want to help stop water pollution some ways you can, are keeping oils out of the sink, not using that much bleach and detergents.

I hope that this blog post has made you feel like you need to help water pollution.
