First Chicken Plan

How did your research guide your plan? My research helped me because I knew exactly what to do ate each step of the way.

What information do you still need to find? Currently I know all the things I need to know.

What new information did you find as you planned? I found out how long you need to let the chicken sit before taking it out of the salt ( which helps preserve the chicken).

How do you think this plan will work with your group members? I think it will work well because all our plans have facts we researched.

How can you make sure every person’s voice is heard in the group? I think we just need to combine our plans so everyone will have something to talk and lead about.

How have I grown as a team member?

I have grown because I feel I have tried to not get super upset when a group member makes an annoying decision. I feel I have done better because I am trying to let other people lead so I can work on that skill. Also, I have worked with people maybe I would not have chosen to work with but I tried to make the best out of the situation and sometimes I get surprised at how fun it is with my group. For Example in the pringles challenge, I would have rather worked with my friends but I couldn’t so I ended up making new friends. That was really fun!!!!

High Holiday Reflection

1. Why did I pick my topic? I picked my topic because Sukkot is my Hebrew birthday and I wanted to learn more about Sukkot. It was really fun, I got to do a fun project with the 1st and Sr kindergarten. We got to build Sukkot out of food with them.
2. What was one of the main ideas that I learned that I did not know before? I learned that Sukkot is also the holiday of the harvest, also I learned that a Sukkah has a minimum of 2 and 1/4 sides.
3. What did I find interesting and enjoy about doing my project? I found that in my project you could branch what we were doing in many ways. I enjoyed it because that lead us to the project with the 1st and Sr kindergartens.
4. How did doing my project enhance or influence my high holiday experience? It made this class awesome because in my project I could hang out and get to know different classes

Timeline Reflection

For me, this project was nowhere close to being a challenge. But this was a great way to enter a fun year in social studies. I would have liked there to be a challenge option ifwe wanted to push our limits. I think that we could have just went right into making a timeline. Learning about AD, BC, BCE,  and CE did not really help our final project. Overall this was a great way to start a year!!!!

Dissecting Fish

  • What did you learn about the perch? I learned that perches have a toxic spike on one of their fins.
  • What did you learn about sea lamprey? I learned that sea lamprey sucks on other fish’s blood. Ewwwww!!
  • What observations did you make? I noticed that the sea lamprey and the perch have very different body types. I wonder if each body helps the fish do what they have to do to stay alive.
  • What wonders, questions, thoughts, do you have? I wonder what perch eat. I think that they eat smaller organism but I am not sure.

Our Jewish Studies Project

This was an amazing experience for me. I got to work with little kids and make a great presentation for our class. What I really loved was that I got to share my knowledge about sukkot. I look forward to doing more of these projects. What I would do differently would be to let the students choose their Jewish projects. Overall this was awesome!!!!

Zip-lining at Lake Geneva

I liked going to lake geneva because I got to go zip-lining for the first time. I loved how all my friends cheered me on as I zoomed through the air. I was so scared at the beginning but my friends were all there for me and I went on the first four but I didn’t go on the 1200 foot zip-line. I think the team building helped me build the relationships I had because we had to work in a team. The reason it was so good is that I expanded my comfort zone, next time I will go on the 1200 foot zip-line.  I really liked the rope swinging teambuilding activity. It taught me that you have to work together for success in your life. I would really like to go back and do this again. It was super fun!!!!!

Pringles Challenge

What stuck out to me about the pringles challenge was that even when we failed it was so fun hanging out and working together with my team and I think that that is something that you can not find in a regular class. I think ETC is a very special class and you should value that.

Science this week

  • What challenge excited you the most? Why?

The saving Fred challenge excited me most because it was fun to fail and work with friends and then when we did it it was awesome.

  • What was difficult about the challenges?

What was challenging was that we could not touch Fred the boat or the life preserver. We had to use four paper clips to save Fred.

  • What was comfortable about the challenges?

What was comfortable about saving Fred was that we could plan and create ideas before the challenge.

  • What is something you want to work on moving forward?

I want to work on more being of a team player and making sure everyone has a role in what the team is doing.

  • What are you looking forward to this year in science?

I am looking forward to doing more of these kinds of challenges. They are really fun!

High Holiday Project Brainstorm

What do I know about my topic? Describe all the details, information, ideas that you do know. I know that Sukkot is the holiday that we celebrate the harvests of the Israelites. Also, sukkot is my Hebrew B-Day
What are 10 other questions I have that I need to research for a further study?
  1. Why is sukkot important?
  2. What role does sukkot play in our lives?
  3.  Why do we like sukkot?
  4. Why do the Jewish people build sukkahs?
  5. What are the four symbols of luluvs?
  6. What are the other names for sukkot?
  7. How do we observe sukkot?
  8. What are the symbols for sukkot?
  9. What are we celebrating when we celebrate sukkot?
  10. Why is sukkot a holiday

Where will I begin to look for those answers? Books and google.

What help do I need to move forward in my project? I do not think I need help.

Sincerely,

msteigmann
