How did the events we looked at today lead to the cause of the Civil War?

All the events kind of built up into a civil war.

Scientific Explanation Round 2

Scientific Question We Investigated: Does air have mass?

Scientific Explanation:

Air has mass. This is because when I weighed a balloon without air it weighed 1.9 grams. After that when I weighed the ballon after blowing 7 breaths in it, it weighed 3.5 grams. This shows that the balloon’s weight increased by 1.6 grams. When I blew air in the balloon it got bigger which meant a mass was filling it up. That mass was air. A balloon filled with air sinks to the ground. According to Anne Marie Helmenstine, “The compressed air is heavier than its surroundings, so the air has mass or weight.” That means that air has weight. All of that proves that air has mass because there is a 1.6-gram difference between the balloon with air and without air and the balloon was bigger after I  blow up my balloon. Also, the balloon feels a lot denser when blown up. All of this is proving air has mass.

Slavery Primary Sources

How did the experiences of slaves first hand compared to what we have read about in the past? Were our secondary sources accurate to the slave experience? Explain.

Yes, both articles talk about them having a shortage of food and getting beat up and a ton of labor.

What was one new thing you learned from reading these stories?

That some owners had children with slaves and did not care for their children.

Did reading these stories from slaves change your perspective? How so?

No, I still think it was a  terrible thing that should not have happened.

How do you think that the stories of slaves relate to our essential question of “Why do people move?”?

Yes, because the slaves got transported here on ships.

Why did slaves move? Be specific in your answer.

Because they were forced to move to America to be a slave.
