6th, 7th, and 8th grade Nonfiction Learning Targets

Good Morning:

Whether we are in the building or learning from home, our next unit is Nonfiction Reading. As we move forward into this unit, students will learn a variety of strategies for annotation during the reading of the nonfiction book they chose. Students will also also be responding to nonfiction texts through writing by using a strategy called, “Say, Matter, Mean.” Below are all of the learning targets for this unit. Know that your MJDS students are learning the same thing they would be in the classroom whether they are here or at home. Also, the skills of nonfiction reading and writing are super important because they apply to all other content areas. I will be providing regular feedback, as this is a new strategy. Through feedback students can improve and reach or exceed proficiency. When they reach or exceed proficiency, I will move them into a different method of writing response.
