The Wave Reflection

The wave is about a class and a teacher named Mr. Ross. Mr. Ross makes an experiment to teach his class about the Nazi party. He created something called the wave. It was a group he created in has class that had the main idea of power through discipline.

Before watching the video I was very confused why people back then would want to join a party that supported such hatred. The video showed that once you give people power they will join and do everything to be  better then everyone else. One example of this was Robert. Robert was a very shy and quiet student. Mr. Ross started to call on him and give him power and attention. He uses it as an opportunity to get popular and have power. This connects to the Holocaust and the Nazi party because it shows that people back then were in a very hard time. It was after the great depression and many people were unemployed. They were looking for any opportunity to get back to a stable way of life. They found a few good things and then became a part of the party because they were very desperate.

This video gave me a head experience. It helped me realize why people would want join such a party and gave me a new perspective of the situation before the Holocaust.

Capstone Reflection

In ETC, Jewish Studies, and Social studies we are doing a capstone project. Our essential questions for this project are who am I as a Jew, a citizen, and as a learner? We are having speakers come and tell there stories and doing projects that will help us answer these questions.

One speaker that I really had a connection to was Sheldon Wasserman. He is a doctor and a politician. He talked a lot about the choices we need to make as we get older. This was a heart experience for me. He made me more aware that now that I am getting older that my choices will effect me in the future. I also had another heart experience when he talked about when you work hard you can do the things that you want to do. One example that he gave of this was  because he works hard he is able to travel the world and go on amazing adventurers. This touched my heart because it made realize that to do things I love to do like traveling I need to work hard. This was also a hand experience because it made me want to take action and work hard. Lastly I had a connection to him because when he was little he wanted to be a doctor. I also want to be a doctor like Dr. Wasserman. He made me realize that if I want to become a doctor and do the things I enjoy, I have to make good positive choices and work hard.

I really enjoyed all the speakers and there stories. They helped me become more aware of who am I as a citizen, Jew and as a learner.
