Welcome to Fourth Grade Jewish Studies!

Dear Fourth Grade Parents,

I am so excited to be your child’s Jewish Studies teacher this year! We have already jumped into our first unit which is based on the driving question: how do Jewish rituals make lifecycle events special?

Our learning will culminate in a mock wedding for Gev. Denny and her soon-to-be husband Noah (also an MJDS alumni).

Students will have opportunities to make a chuppah, learn about the ketubah, dance the hora, etc. We will learn from Rabbis and ask Gev. Denny many questions in order to make the experience special for her and Noah.

Here’s where we need your help. If you are able to, can you send in a picture of a life cycle event in your family? It can be a wedding, bar mitzvah, baby naming, etc. Please try to email something by Monday, September 9th. You can contact me at jhonigman@mjds.org. I will also be in touch soon to check in on your family’s Jewish goals for your student this year.

I look forward to getting to know you along with your child this year!
