Soap Box Speech

In social studies we are doing a soapbox speech. The topic I am interested in is having more than one language option at our school(we would still keep Hebrew though). I am really interested in this topic because I do Spanish, but I have to use an online curriculum, which costs a lot of money, and I would much prefer to have a teacher teach it to me. I could use some help finding what classrooms we would have to do the other languages in also. I also want to know if other people are interested in learning a different language, which one.

Dear President Roosevelt

Dear President Roosevelt,
We need to let these Jewish children in our country. They have not only paid lots of money to get on the US St. Louis to go to Cuba, but they are also seeking refuge. Cuba only let 30 out of 937 people in because the had “special visas”! One of the Jews committed suicide, leaving only 906 people hoping for us to take them in. If you want to send them to other Latin American Countries, we can’t because they have already been denied. We also can’t send them back to Germany because they will be sent to a concentration camp. Also, if you are worried about getting them visas we can get them temporary visas during the war. Please consider this.
Sincerely,
Indy

Capstone Interview

1. Who did you interview?

I interviewed my dad.

2. What is one new thing you learned from this process?

One of the new things that I learned is where some of my family is from. For example, I did not know I had family from Latvia and Lithuania. I also did not know that I have family currently living in Israel.

3. Is there anything that surprised you about your interview?

I was surprised of the variety of countries I have family from. I already knew I had family from Russia, Poland, Mexico, and Germany. I did not know I had family from Israel, Latvia, and Lithuania.

4.Did your interview(s) change you in any way? How so?

My interview didn’t really change me. I learned new information that was very interesting, but I didn’t really change me.
